New Year's Eve

After lunch, I wanted to go into town and go to the bank since we'll be having a long week-end. It was 1:00 PM and the bank closed at 2:00 PM. Frank thought he needed a Z Pac for he was getting a sore throat. The pharmacy closed at 1:30 PM so I had to go there first. He talked to the pharmacist for they would be closed by the time Dr. Phillip's nurse could call in the prescription, and the pharmacist agreed to "loan" Dad a Z Pac, and the prescription would come later. I thought that was a neat idea, so I got the Rx and then headed to the bank. There weren't many people at the drive through and I got the money quickly.

I was going to Walmart to get some sparkling grape juice for us to celebrate ringing in the New Year, but I stopped at a Quick Stop and bought a liter of 7-Up instead. About 9:00 PM, I'll have a glass of bubbly, say Happy New Year and then go to bed! I'm too old to stay up that late. Happy New Year everybody!!

Odd Day

Slept in until 10:00 AM. The UPS man made a delivery at 10 and I figured that by 10 in the morning one should be up and dressed, sacrifice that it is.

I drove into town to get some medicated shampoo and another Rx but they didn't have the shampoo! Oh, well. That's all the action I'll get this day. I did ride the recumbent bike for 15 minutes this afternoon. Now to do that again this evening. I've got some bean soaking that are ready to start cooking. We had hamburger steaklets for lunch. They had been thawed for a week but were still good. Of course, Frank could taste a difference in them, but he ate them.

Got New Glasses

My new frames look a lot like my old ones, for I liked my old ones but they were getting a bit loose and I really wanted new ones. The frames coast $63.00 but the lens cost $180.00! Bad, bad eyes, I have.

After I got my glasses, I stopped by the Dollar store and got 2 gallons of milk. They didn't have any semi-large trees for sale so I forgot about my idea of getting a second tree. I'll wait until next year and pay full price for one! Ha-ha-ha!

I didn't do anything much after I got home. I swept the floors before we read the scriptures and then we put the birds to bed and now I'm here. We heard from Mary Kate yesterday and they were driving to Idaho to visit the Sidwells. Friends from Georgia. There's snow all around but they weren't driving through any. They had fun playing in the snow one day.

Visit To The Eye Doctor

I spent an hour at the eye Drs today. Got my eyes dilated and he said my eyes were like a 55 year old's! In fact, I hadn't seen him in 2 years and my near and far vision hadn't changed. I did get a new pair of frames. A "new pair"? Anyway, the frames look about like my old ones because I liked my old ones, but they were 2 years old. I'll have to wear the old ones when I watch TV with Gert on my shoulder for he has chewed most of my ear piece off on the left side. His bite is so quick and hard that it's hard to get him away from the glasses before he takes a chunk out of them.

I went to the store that sells Miche hand bags to get some new handles, but she didn't have any. I don't know where my old handles are and will have to pay for the new ones. I don't like the shoulder bag handle for it won't stay on my shoulder and keeps falling off. But if in the summer I want the shoulder strap on again, I can just put it back on. It's All About Me said that over the Christmas season, they had sold 80 bags! I've had several compliments on my green bag and two of them have been men!

They Leave

Frankie and Rachel and children left soon after I went to church. Rachel has to work Monday and they wanted to leave and get home kind of early. We had a great time with them and hated to see them go.

Church was good today. I had forgotten I had to drive today, and left home at 9:20 AM. I thought I would be late, but I wasn't. I sat in the last row of seats but had a good view of the speakers. Today was the last day of Primary of 2009. Next week will start a new year of songs and new thoughts from the new program.

Day After Christmas

Dad wasn't so sick that I had to stay home, so I went with Frankie and Rachel and children to the Space and Rocket Center. They had joined a science museum at Oak Ridge, TN and it allows them free entrance to a lot of other museums and the man let me in free too! I saved $20.00 but spent it to buy the pictures they took of us just as we walked in. The pictures were nice and I'm glad we got them.

Everyone enjoyed the museum. It was too cold to ride the rides outside but we rode the one inside and had fun on it. The children and Frankie climbed the rock wall and all made it to the top, but Mariam and Josh, but they enjoyed the climbing they did.

After the museum, we drove to Trudy's and had lunch and watched a movie. We had a great time there too. George and Forrest were headed out for three days of a winter camp. More power to them. I would have enjoyed that in younger and more adventurist days.

Since they had "popped" in on us, I didn't have any food for them, so we stopped by KFC and got some chicken for our supper. The kids played on the computer

Christmas Day

While I was in the shower, my cell phone, which was in the bathroom, rang. I didn't get it the 1st time but when it rang again, and I hopped out of the shower to answer the phone. It was Frankie saying that they were on the road to my house for Christmas! Dad and I were excited and glad that they were coming. They got here around 3:30 PM. The kids, Luke, Kayla, Mariam and Josh had grown since I had seen them last. Luke and Kayla are both taller than I am now-not by much, but still taller. I had baked a chocolate cake, with white icing and Josh got into it and ate all the frosting off of it and had made a mess of the rest of the cake! It was hilarious! He got upset when his mom got onto him, but it was alright with me. He has to take some medicine that makes him crave carbs.

Tomorrow, Frankie and family are going to the Space and Rocket Center and have asked me to go along. Frank thinks he may be sick tomorrow morning so I'll have to see how he feels in the morning. Afterwards, we would go to Trudy house for a visit. It would be a nice trip.

Happy Day

I left the house at 9:45 AM headed for town to go to Big Lots to see if I could get another small tree that Mary Kate said was there. All of their trees were gone but I found some 20 light strands and got 2 boxes plus a tube of plastic, gold ornaments. I came home and put both strands of lights on the tree plus I replaced the ornaments. The little tree looks good now. While in General Dollar I saw a box which contained a small tree. I may go back and but one if it looks good. I would love to have two small trees all dressed up. I could have one tree in my room if I wanted to but probably have both trees in the living room.

Didn't do much the rest of the afternoon. Trudy called to say that Mary Kate had texted to say that they had just arrived in Salt Lake City. They are taking this trip for Nate's 8th birthday. Nate was born in Salt Lake City and he wanted to visit for his birthday. They have friends to stay with while they are there. Merry Christmas, everyone, this is Christmas Eve!

Busy Dr Day

We left for H'ville at 8:30 AM and went to the Pain Clinic first. Then, we went to McDonald's and had lunch. After that, we drove to Dr Phillips' office and waited in the car for a while because we were too early for the appointment. We got through with the Doctors and went to Madison to the Dairy Cream place and got 2 Blizzards. While we were there Frankie called and he and Dad talked about electronics until we were back to Athens and were at the pharmacy! The traffic was horrendous! Two days before Christmas and everyone was on the roads.

I will go to Big Lots to look for a new tree tomorrow. Maybe if I get there right at 10:00 AM there won't be too many people out.

What A Day

After Trudy and the kids left, I got dressed up to go to the Dr. I wore a skirt for all my pants were in the wash. I get to the office, sign in, and take a seat. A few minutes later, the secretary called me to the window and said my appointment wasn't until next week! I left and went to Lou's place and ordered some underwear. Then went home. I had another appointment at the eye Dr., but I forgot it because I was looking at the wrong week on the calendar! I called them and rescheduled the appointment. I had another Dr. appointment in H'ville at 1:00 PM and I left and stopped to get some gas only to find that my battery had gone dead while I was buying gas! I went into the station and a young lady said she could jump me and low and behold the car started! A man who was watching told me not to stop the car again for it might not start, so instead of going to H'ville, I drove home. Frank came out to check the battery and found it was dry. So we put some water in the cells, and put the charger on it. The battery charged and tomorrow he will charge the battery on the old car since it's not driven much.

Not only that, but the bulb in the fiber optic tree the girls got me one Christmas, had burned out! My Christmas tree was dead! I'll try to get a 25 or less string of lights for it, or if I find another small fiber optic tree I'll get it. My last bling came in the mail, a ring, and I am very happy with it. I guess it is my Christmas present to myself.

Work Day Monday

Forrest spent the night with us Sunday. We went shopping at Walmart and it was nice to have someone to push the basket and reach the things that were high up! We were through by 10:00 AM. Forrest got on the computer for a while until Grampie had some work for him. He pruned the Crape Myrtle tree and I carried the limbs to the burn pile. Then he pruned the Butterfly bush. The yard surely looks different now. Nice.

Trudy and Sadie came over and are spending the night tonight. They'll have to get up at 6:00 AM to get back home in time for school.

I have a well visit with Dr. Walker tomorrow. I hate to climb on the scale. My New Year's resolution will be to loose the 5 pounds I have found!

Sunday Again

I drove today because Bro. Decker had choir practice and they were going at 8:30 AM and I didn't want to go that early. We had a lot of music in the service today and Bishop Harris sang "O Holy Night" like he does each Christmas. This year Shelly helped with the singing. Young sister Huges played a rendition of Silent Night on the piano and the choir sang plus the congregational singing. It was nice. Primary went well too. I must practice the piano more. I need to connect it to when I go down to ride the bike and when I do laundry. Playing a little bit each day wouldn't bore me and surely would help.

Frankie has an e-mail for us when he get around to writing it. I've been worried about him and this e-mail should confirm or negate my worrying.

Forrest is coming over to spend the night with us. It seems that any student that gets a grade of 65 doesn't have to take the exams. Trudy has to substitute tomorrow and didn't want to leave him home alone. It's after 6:00 PM now so that doesn't leave much time for tonight. Tomorrow, after lunch, we'll go grocery shopping.

January 2, Ruth and I are going to B'ham to a concert of the Sub Siberian Orchestra. We'll leave her house about 11:00 AM and eat lunch out and then she knows the way to the parking garage and then we have to walk a bit to get to our seats. We're thinking about taking ear plugs for the group is supposed to be loud! I'll ask Forrest if he knows anything about them. Some of Ruth's children are familiar with them and like them. Time will tell!

Party Day

I went to my brother's house at 10:00 AM and had time to visit before any on the children arrived. Katie, who likes to be called Susan, and her new in-laws were the first to arrive. It was her new husband, his brother and his parents and then Jim and his two girls, 11 and 7, came with Bill and Lynn and Will at the same time as Jim came. We ate lunch and then sat around talking. I stayed later than I usually do and got home at 5:30 PM. I noticed the car had turned over to 120,008 miles when I left my brothers house. I should figure out how many miles away it is, but I always forget to do it. I left at 4:30 and got home at 5:25 PM.

As presents I got a blue glass treble clef necklace with earrings to match and three books of card making papers. I had a good time.

Friday the Wet

Yes, it has been raining most of the day. We went VT and saw one sister and left a card and Christmas tree ornament at another house. The rain slacked up after we finished.

When I went to bring the trash can in from the road, I also took the rake out and raked the leaves out of the gutters. They were clogging up the free flow of the water and it was backing up into the yard. I should have done the raking several weeks ago but I didn't. Oh, well.

I will be going down to my brother's tomorrow. Another nephew and his two girls will be there so I have to buy some more presents. I don't look forward to that but I guess I'll have to. It'll have to be Walmart for I'll get my nephew a Whitman's Sampler like I got my brother and my other nephew. It should be a fun time. Katie and her family will be there and there's 7 in that party.

Relief Society Tonight

Don't remember what I did this morning. I helped Frank with a project this afternoon. We watched Glen Beck and I fixed dinner. I didn't eat because we were having a light supper at church. There was a short program about the Savior and then we went in and had dinner. I had Kale soup and it was very good, not too filling, but good. I had a corn muffin and two cookies and water. Afterwards, I helped set up the Primary room for Sunday. I was home before 8:00 PM.

I'll be going Visiting Teaching tomorrow at 10:00 AM. Don't know how many sisters we'll see but we should be through by lunch time or a little after.

Trudy called and said she was going to take genealogy class at church and was getting names and dates of her grandparents (she knew the names...).It would be nice if she would get interested in doing it for I have lots of names for her to work on, so does her father.

Was Late

I got up in time for the exercise class, but I realized that Frank hadn't gotten up, so I had to get him his medicine and juice. I was through in enough time to go into town, so I went. I just missed about 2-3 of the exercises so it was worth going. I also had to go by the pharmacy and pick up my medicine which I needed today, so I needed too be in town anyway.

We've decided to mix our powdered milk with 2% milk so we can rotate our supply of powdered milk. I have been just drinking 2%for several months because I got tired of the straight powdered milk and the 2% is so yummy. Frank said the powdered milk was getting old tasting, so I decided we would begin mixing. We drink a lot of milk.

I now have Christmas cards to address and mail. Trudy made them and sent them to me today.
I, or we, have received about 6 cards and I will probably send out more and what is left will go for next year.

Monday's Schedule

Went to study scriptures and then back home for lunch. Went out after lunch to buy Ruth's Christmas present. I thought I would have to go to Madison to get what I wanted, but I stopped by Peebles in Athens and found just what I wanted and I got myself one too. I don't usually shop there for they have more career-type clothes but they were having good sales for what I wanted to buy, so I'll keep it in mind next time I shop.

Came back home and wrapped the presents. I got the adults (except Ruth) a box of chocolates-Whitman's Sampler- and got Will, my great-nephew, some die cast cars and air planes. I usually go down to my brother's when my nephew, Bill and his wife, Lynn and their son, Will, come for a visit. I only have one brother and his children are the only family I have besides my own children.

It was overcast this morning when I went out but by noon the sun was out and it was. It got up to 70 degrees today. I wore a long sleeve shirt and a vest and was warm it that. It'll get nasty in January, or it usually does.

Concert Day

The Primary sang well and we had several compliments of our songs. We have a good group of young children that like to sing. Hopefully they will be like that when they get older. We had some good talks at church and Primary went well, so it was a good day.

The Home Teachers came over but Bro. Decker had put some hand lotion on as he was leaving his house and the perfume in the lotion aggravated Frank, so he spent his time in his bedroom and came in for the closing prayer. Bro. Decker apologized but the damage was done! It's hard for "normal" people to remember that Frank can't handle smells and gets sick just smelling them.

I need to go to Khol's tomorrow and get Ruth a Christmas present. Saturday, Bill and Lynn will be down. Maybe Trudy would like to go too.

Saturday, December 12, 2009

Concert Night

The Deckers invited me to go with their family to the Stake Christmas concert and to see the nativity scenes and it was all very lovely The choir and orchestra were outstanding. After the choir concert, we drove through the H'ville Botanical gardens and saw all the lights they had up and there were many wonderful lighted scenes. After that, we drove home. It was a lovely evening and I enjoyed it immensely. Stacey was there too. She is a cute girl and I enjoy being around her.

I had to order some medicine from Medico. I have run out of my Effexor early for some reason and had to call Dr Sharp to get some from the pharmacy. I can't go off Effexor suddenly or dire things happen.

Boot Day

I got up at 6:45 AM, well, the clock told me to get up...I might have been little slow in getting out of the bed. But I made it to exercise class today. Not many people there today, maybe the cold kept them away. After the class, I decided I would look for a pair of boots. The Shoe Dept. doesn't open up 'til 10:00 AM so I went to Walmart first. I found a pair of black boots with a flat heel and bought them. Then, I went to The Shoe Dept and got a pair or brown boots with a flat heel too. So, now I have two pairs of boots! Oh, before I went to Walmart, I stopped be a consignment shop and tried on a pair of boots, but the heel was too high and I looked funny walking in them.

Tonight, I'm going with the Deckers to the Stake Christmas choir performance. The stake choir has been doing this for several years but I have never seen it. It's hard to always go places by yourself. But this year, I've been invited! We'll go by the Botanical Garden to see the lights. It will be a fun trip and I'll wear a pair of my boots!

Thursday, December 10, 2009

Hello There

"Hello there" was the first thing that popped into my mind when I looked at the title. Trudy came over about 9:00 AM after she had taken the kids to school. She made 4 cards and I cooked a pie and some rotini chicken salad. We made a trip into Walmart to look for a butterfly punch, but there were none. She brought me a sweater coat, red, that fits (got it at a thrift store) and a pink, light sweater. They were too small for Sadie. Now instead of giving Sadie my hand-me-downs, I'm getting hers! Trudy also found a pair of boots that looked good. I want a pair of boots now.

Frank got his Photo Shop working with the help of some lady on the phone. Don't know what evil lurks in the heart of my Poopsie Pie. Don't know what he has in mind of doing with it.

It's been about 24 degrees outside with the wind blowing and the sun shinning. I heard a weather forecast about there being more snow one day with rain that evening! Poor kids! Just tempting them with snow and then raining on their parade.

Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Wacky Wednesday

"Wacky" what a funny word! Anyway, my Wednesday hasn't really been wacky. I went to exercise today and then to the bank and then to K Mart and on to Walmart to do some shopping. I had all that done by 10:30 AM and then went home. I fixed some talipia fish that Trudy had given me and Frank didn't want fish so he fixed some beans while I woofed down the fish. It was good but he wasn't in the mood for any fish.

My Land's End order came in today so I washed clothes so my three new tee shirts would be ready to wear. They're nice because they're petite and the sleeves aren't too long. Now, it has to get cold enough to wear long sleeves.

Yesterday and all last night it rained hard. Some roads were closed today because of water being over the roads. The wind was blowing hard even though the temp was in the 50's. I had a sweat shirt on with a scarf at my neck and my red coat and it was a bit too much. It doesn't usually get really nasty until January.

Rainly Tuesday

Got a letter for the Dr yesterday saying my vitamin D level was low and gave me a prescription for 50,000 IU of vitamin D. I got it filled today and came home and took a pill then I read the directions from the Dr again and I had taken the pill a week too soon! That just means that I will have my lab done a week early according to what the letter says. I take one pill a week for three months. My vitamin D level was 31 and the range is 35-100. I take OTC vitamin D but sometimes I forget to take my night dosage. I need the D to help make my bones strong. The D helps the body utilize the Calcium I take. I also drink a lot of milk so was surprised to hear my vitamin D was low.

We'll go to the temple Thursday to meet Mary Kate and one of her friends. I can see her face in my mind's eye but her name escapes me at the moment. We'll meet at 9:00 AM so we'll have to leave my house by 7:00 AM. Just got word that the temple trip is canceled and rescheduled for the following Wednesday.

Got to go ride my bicycle now. I've been doing 15 minutes once a day and think I need to increase the time and maybe do two sessions of 15 minutes each.

Great Day

Went to exercise class today and then out to Karen's for scripture study. I was back home before 11:30 AM. Frank was up and moving around. I washed all the towels for his various beds (3) and it was fun having him up and about. We joked around and had fun.

Tomorrow, Trudy may come over. I want to go to Walmart and look for some very small tree ornaments for my fiber optic tiny tree. I don't have any room-flat surfaces-for any more Christmas do-dads. It's just as well since no one comes over. I guess my main Christmas present was the exercise bike I got. Frank wants a flat screen TV for the living room so he can take his computer in there and use the TV for his monitor. It would be good to have him in the living room with me and the birds. For some reason, he can't get the TV right now or he would have it. The football games will look better on a larger screen!

Sunday, December 6, 2009

Tithing Day

I got to church and signed up for tithing settlement and then sat down. Not minutes later, I jumped up and saw what day I had sighed up for and it was today! Silly me not to realize what day it was.

Primary was good. Next week we sing our three Christmas songs. I guess I'll sit up front near the piano so I can play some prelude music as the children come up front. They are well practiced and will do a good job.

Mary Kate and a friend are coming to the Birmingham temple Thursday and invited me to join them. If Karen can go with me, we'll meet them for the 9:00 AM session. It will be a nice outing.

Saturday, December 5, 2009

Game Day

I watched one football game before I watched the Alabama-Florida game. The Bama game was great! They dominated Florida all the way. It was like Florida, being the no. 1 team in the nation, flew in and expected to roll on over the Tide, but no! It was a good game. Florida was a good team, but we were better. So most of my day was football and it was good!

Dad and I vacuumed the floors. When he vacuums, he goes after each dust bunny with a vengeance! If I don't see the bunnies, I don't go looking for them! If you look, you'll probably find!

There was snow on the ground this morning. There was enough to cover the ground, but a few hours later, it was gone. Dad got some pictures of it for proof, I guess!

Friday, December 4, 2009

Hello Again

I went to the P.O. about 11:00 AM to mail a package for Dad and one for me. The line wasn't too long. The kid's Christmas cards are in the mail now and they will be able to use the money to go shopping.

I ordered three long sleeved tee shirts from Land's End. I didn't get the colors I wanted but did get a red one, a true navy one and a black one. I already have red and black pull overs but none are long sleeves. I save the tee's I have for Sunday. I made sure they matched the colors in three skirts I have.

I washed my white embroidered jacket and it turned out nice and white and the blue embroidery didn't run. Last night I soaked a Christmas vest in baking soda to try and get the perfume out of it so I could wear it. I think it worked. I had to let it dry on a coat hanger and every time I walked by it I smelled it hoping I got all of the perfume out of it. Hooray for baking soda!

Next week I'm going to have to go back to the Senior Center. I didn't go all last week. It's hard to go back when I've missed a while.

Thursday, December 3, 2009

Hello

I cleaned up my room some and put up a picture on the wall. Went out to check the mail twice without any success and on the third time got it! Cooked some beans, played the piano and rode my exercise bike for almost 15 minutes. I enjoy riding the bike so maybe I'll stick with it. It's bound to strengthen my knees.

Karen stopped by with my jacket she took up. She was on her way to meet Ken in town so they could watch the Christmas parade. I showed her the picture I'm sending her son and new daughter-in-law. After that, I finished boxing it up and will take it to the P.O. tomorrow.

The vest I ordered from Land's End came in today. It's pretty heavy and should be warm, maybe too warm for inside. I think I'll order two more long sleeves tee shirts. I like this catalog shopping.

Dr Day

It was raining when I left to go to H'ville to see Dr Shergy. If you get there early, you can get in to see the Dr early. I got in, saw the Dr for 5 minutes and then had to have lab done. Usually, the wait for the lab is short, but today they had 2 people who didn't come in so I had to wait about 40 minutes. No problem.

I went to Hobby Lobby after the Dr. I found a frog sculpture that I got for my sister-in-law and I got some colored pens. I had a rebate Visa card for $15.00 and I had a 40% off coupon so I didn't have to pay much. I will probably get something else for Ruth. My brother doesn't want a gift, so I usually get him some chocolate candy. Last year, one of the nephews caused a stink at the Christmas get together, so we won't have a gathering with everyone.

Heard from Trudy. She will come over next Tuesday and she and Sadie will spend the night on her birthday, Dec 30th. It's always fun when the kids come over.

It had stopped raining by the time I got home. I don't know the forecast for the next few days.

I have to get Brent Decker's wedding present boxed up and ready to ship. It's their picture and wedding invitation matted and in a picture frame. It turned out good.

December 1st

Wow! How time flies! December will go fast also and the bad weather will be with us. It's still light jacket weather.

I stayed home today. I lolled around the house and helped Frank with the bills. He had already paid the bill online and I just had to mark and enter them into the bill book, so it wasn't much to do.

I did do 10 minutes on the recumbent bike. It is so quiet! I think I should stay at 10 minutes for a while so my leg muscles get used to the work. It is comfortable sitting in the chair and peddling around and around. I tried not to eat any snakes today. I hope to lose some of the 5 lbs I have gained. I added peanut butter crackers, 6 crackers to a package, to my diet without adding any more exercise and the pounds found me. My clothes still fit, but I don't like the feel of being larger.

Wonderful Monday

What was wonderful about today? Our scripture study went well and Karen is going to alter my jacket for me. I really didn't know how to do it and was afraid to try. It didn't have Dolman sleeves after all, but had set in sleeves. The lining was sewed to the bottom and sleeves and every where else it could be sewed. Karen said it helped the material go through the machines better when it was done that way. After study, I came home and got lunch ready.

After lunch, I went to K-Mart looking for a sweater vest I saw advertised. Too bad I didn't notice that it came in plus sizes only or I would have saved myself a trip. I saw another vest but it only came in a medium and I needed a large.

Next, I went to All About Me, a boutique, and got a longer strap for my Miche bag. I also got another wrap for my purse. It's like having 3 handbags now! Next, I'll need a hanger for all my wraps. It came with two handles and I wanted a shoulder bag and I knew they made one long strap. Actually I got two straps but I also got a conversion kit where I could make it only have one strap. I like it better with one strap.

On my e-mail, I get notices from Land's End and they had a fleece vest that I liked. I noticed the catalog said the sale lasted only until Dec. 1st and today is November 30th, so I phoned in an order tonight. I didn't know if it was 24 hour calling or not, but it was, so I placed an order for one fleece vest, color, black. I thought I wanted two, but black will go with every thing.

Beautiful Sunday

Mary Kate and the kids decided to come home after Sacrament meeting, so we drove different cars. I reserved seats in the back of the chapel. Karen came in and sat with us. One of the speakers wasn't there so the missionaries gave their testimonies. One in English and one in Spanish. After the Sacrament meeting was over I got to go to Sunday school for all the Primary children were meeting together the last hour. We practiced on the three songs we were asked to sing in December. They will do beautifully.

I have a white embroidered jacket I got back from Trudy. It looks good on her but she doesn't know how to wear it, so I got it back. It has Dolman sleeves in it and I don't know how to take the sleeves in and shorten the sleeves. It is cotton but it's lined all over. I told Karen I had a project for us to do and she can figure it out since she majored in sewing. I got a nice navy blue skirt from the thrift store or consignment store for only $3.00. Got a Christmas vest but I have to hand wash it because it stinks of perfume! I hope it comes out for the vest is cute. Just the right amount of decorations. I also got a quilted vest for a few dollars. I have too many clothes in my closet now and should go through and cull quite a bit.

Shopping Day

We went to H'ville this morning and went to Dick's and I bought a recumbent exercise bike. Then we went to Sam's to buy some groceries and have lunch and then we stopped by Khol's in Madison and I got a blue sweater. I bought 3 pair of earrings and took one pair back and the lady gave me credit on them. I think I have enough earrings now! While back in Athens, we stopped at Walmart and we got a few things for Dad and then we came home.

Mary Kate and I began to put the bike together and Dad came and helped out. I stopped helping and cooked some spaghetti and meat sauce and we had french bread too. Now, Dad is lying down, and the kids are watching TV in the living room and Mary Kate and I are in my room watching TV. I'll have to go to bed earlier tonight so I can be human for tomorrow!

I Think It's Friday?

Since yesterday was Thanksgiving, and a holiday, it was hard to remember today was Friday. I didn't plan to go out and just bummed around the house. Fia called and said that they were coming over tonight instead of tomorrow and soon they were here. Mary Kate said it was just a good time to come over and I'm glad. We can go shopping tomorrow and look for a recumbent exercise bike for me. I need to exercise my knees and a recumbent bike sounds like just what I need. Mary Kate said she could help me put it together.

It will be fun to go shopping. It's good exercise and it's fun too. I want to go by the antique store on Clinton St. in Athens to look for some more earrings and then we'll go to H'ville. We may be able to find a bike at Dick's.

Thanksgiving 2009

After I made the peas, asparagus and mushroom casserole, I was ready to drive to Trudy's house for Thanksgiving dinner. When I got there, Trudy and Mary Kate were just getting ready to cook. The turkey breast was in the crock pot and the ham was boiling on the stove (they got a ham that wasn't cooked), and Mary Kate was making her dressing. She put cheese on my casserole and it got in the oven later. The pumpkin pies had to be baked and the yams plus the dressing so the oven was working overtime. The ham was delicious! Boiling it got a lot of salt out of it and it was yummy. The turkey breast was dry (as usual) but everything turned out fine. Trudy even made homemade cranberry sauce that was very good. I took some food home to Dad since he couldn't go. The Fayeteville missionaries came and it was one fine dinner. I left for home around 2:00 PM.

Not much traffic on the roads this morning and not too much in the afternoon when I came home. Walmart was open but it wasn't a mob like there was Wednesday. I decided against going shopping on Black Friday with the gang. I don't like crowds and why tag along just to be going. If I had something in mind to buy, it would be different.

VT Tuesday

I did some laundry this morning and then went VT at 12:00 PM. Ann drove over here and then we went in my car. We saw two sisters and Ann will mail a poem to the two we couldn't see.

Mary Kate and family are coming tomorrow evening and will spend the night with us and then go to Trudy's for Thanksgiving. They will spend the rest of the time at Trudy's. Maybe they will spend some time with us Saturday. I think Dad's feelings would be hurt if they don't.

Bought Dad a new shirt jacket from Walmart. It's a Wrangler. After I washed it, I have to press it to get it to look good. I keep typing and the iron goes cold! It said to use a cool, cool iron but that won't get the wrinkles out!

Busy Monday

I forgot to set the alarm last night and woke up at 6:45 AM, looked at the clock and almost panicked. Then I realized that I had plenty of time to get ready for my dentist appointment in H"ville. If I take I-65, then Hy 20, I can get there in 45 minutes or less. Had no cavities! Yeah!

When I got home, Frank said Dr More's office had called to say the Dr had some surgery he had to do and when I called to reschedule, we decided I would call if I had any problems! I think I will start to do my exercises again and see if I can strengthen my knee muscles. Probably would help, can't hurt.

I stopped by Walmart to get the ingredients for the peas, asparagus and mushroom casserole. My Mom used to make it each Thanksgiving, but I haven't make it in a long time and Trudy remembers my Dad making it. I'll call my friend Mary Lou about the sauce that goes with it.

My package arrived at Frankie's today. Rachel called to see if it was for Christmas or for now. I told her it was for now. I had a nice time talking to her and catching up on all the family's activities.

Rainy Sunday

It wasn't too cold but it was raining enough to use an umbrella. The Decker's are scheduled back from their son's wedding tomorrow. I tended to the two cats today. Maybe they won't make too much of a mess by tomorrow. The rain ended around 1:30 PM.

I have a dentist appointment tomorrow at 9:20 AM and at 1:30 PM I see Dr. Moore about my knee. Tuesday, I see Dr Shergy. I need to find out how long I've taking Forteo. I'm just supposed to take it for two two years.

We had two good talks at Sacrament meeting. I felt the Spirit when Sis Darlene Berry spoke. She really put herself into her talk (who else would she put in?!). The High Counselor gave a good talk also.

When they begin enlarging our building, we will go to Madison and will meet at 3-6 PM. It will be wonderful to have a new building with lots more class rooms!

Craft Show.

I met Ruth at the civic center for a craft show and it was good. My first purchase was a pearl ring. Then I saw the special pursed, a Miche purse. You bought the purse body and then got two wraps to go with the purse. It's all done with magnates. You wrap around the body that you want and change the entire outside of the look of the purse. That way, you never have to empty the contains of the purse out, you just wrap around another outside and you have a new purse! I like the concept and hope I like carrying the purse. I'll have a sleek lizard skinned black and gray cover on the purse at church tomorrow. I'm crazy about purses and earrings! I also bought some jewelery cleaner that doesn't smell bad. Now I wish I had bought some necklaces but I freeze up when I see all the variety of jewelry and I forget what clothes I have to buy necklaces for. Maybe that's for self preservation!

There might be another craft show coming up and if it is, I want to go. I can get good earrings here in Athens so I don't need to buy and earrings over $3.00 any where else.

To P.O.

After lunch, Frank finally got his Germ X box ready to mail and I had my box for the Layton kids all ready to go, so I drove to the Post Office and mailed them. Sure cost a bit to mail a box or two. I'm glad to send the children a Christmas check and have them play Santa for us.

I cooked a pot of beans in between trips and resting. I'm glad to know the fast way of cooking dried beans. Bring them to a boil and let them sit an hour, rinse the old water off and then refill with clean water and cook about 1 1/2 hours until done. No problem at all. We had the beans for dinner. We don't eat much meat at all. I do have a ham that I've been eating on. It's too salty for Frank and it makes me thirsty but I enjoy it. We have the steak burgers I fix once in a while but not every week. I don't miss the meat.

I checked of the Decker's cat's. Their litter box was full but wasn't stinky. The normally shy cats were ready for some human contact and let me pet them. The chickens were gathered to one side of their pen as if it were time for dinner. Ken has someone come over and take care of the animals. They will be back Monday, I think. The wedding was today or tomorrow and their entire family was going to be there.

Vacuum Day

We got busy on the house after lunch. I got the small canister vac out and Vacuumed all of the floors. Frank vacuumed under his bed in the living room. While he was doing his pills, I mopped the floors with the vinegar and water. They look nice and the labor wasn't too bad! I vacuumed the bird cages and got a lot of down feathers off the floor. All the birds are molting and these down feathers are every where!

I have three Dr appointments next week. Drs Knight and Moore Monday, Dr Shergy, Tuesday, and Wed., Frank has to pick up his Rx and maybe see a Dr. I'll be tired of driving to H'ville for a while.

Gave Bobby Adams the little igloo dog house that was outside the shed. His daughter had need of one and he remembered us trying to give it to him once before.

Slept In

Didn't go to exercise today. I got the box that are going to Frankie and Rachel's kids sealed up and ready to go to the P.O. I'll take it in Friday. Was going V.T. tomorrow but Ann called and said she needed to go to the Dr. about her cold so we'll go next week.

Mike Allen came by and got on the roof and painted the flue and checked things out. It didn't cost too much. I asked about the condition of the roof and he said it was bad, so soon we'll be getting a new roof. Don't know just when.

Went over to check on the cats. They miss their owners but their litter boxes weren't bad so I'll go back Friday or Saturday.

We need to vacuum the back of the bird cages and underneath Frank's bed in the living room. I ignore what's under their but her likes to vacuum under the bed at times. What I don't see, doesn't bother me!

Drove to Huntsville

I had decided to send a box of goodies to my son's children, my grandchildren, and I needed to get some things I had seen at Hobby Lobby. I had been waiting for some reason and finally realized I wouldn't accomplish the task if I didn't go on up to H'ville, so I went today. Everything was on sale for 40% off and I had a 40% off coupon for the markers I got so the cost of everything wasn't so bad. I was back home in time for lunch.

I put the things in a box which will be sealed up tomorrow and mailed soon. It's really not a Christmas box even though some of the things are Christmas themed. I'm not getting to know Frankie's children as well as my other grandchildren for they live away. I can't travel and spend the night because Frank's health is so bad so I have to wait until the children want to come for a visit. Mary Kate is good about coming for a visit. She lives about 3 1/2 hrs. away. Trudy is the closest, but she stays busy with the kids in school and seminary. Am I having a pity party? Might near, I expect.

Wonderful Fall Weather

Most of the pretty leaves are gone from the trees, but the weather is wonderful! I went to exercise today. Didn't get there early enough to do much walking. Went on the scripture study and Karen showed me where the cats litter box and food was and I got the key to the house. I'll check them every 2-3 days.

I came on home but stopped by Dollar General to get some milk. I noticed that one of the tires looked low, so when I got home I drove the car around the back of the house and Frank checked the tires and sure enough, the front right tire was low. After we checked the new Accord, we checked the old Accord and it's tires needed some air too. This is something one needs to do every now and again.

Frankie and family are not coming for Thanksgiving. Don't know just why but Rachel has a couple of operations coming up and that may have some bearing on it. Don't know. We'll have fun just the 9 of us!

Cool But Turned Warm

When I left for church it was 39 degrees F., but while we were in church, it warmed up to 71 degrees! About the time we'll get to enjoying these days, it will turn cool for sure. Wish it could stay this nice all year.

Church was good and everything went well in Primary. I told Sis. Wright that I would teach her some music theory. She's teaching some piano and doesn't understand it therefore can't teach it. I was thinking about buying a theory book, but I already know the basics of what she needs to know so I can compose a book with my knowledge, since it will be very basic!

Tomorrow will be exercise class and then scripture study. Karen and Ken and Stacey will be leaving for Utah for their sons wedding Tuesday and I said I would feed her cats and check in on them for her. I'll get the keys to the house and find out where the feed is tomorrow.

One pair of my new earrings is yellow, bright yellow, and I don't think that color looks good on me so I'll going to see if the lady will let me swap the earrings plus buy some others.

Talked with Ruth tonight and Sat. they are going down to see Katie and Jim might be coming along too. I was invited and said that I would like to go also. It will be an all day affair and should be fun seeing family.

Football Day

I've been really lazy today. I watched the Florida State vs. South Carolina game (Florida won) and am getting ready to watch Alabama vs. somebody in a few minutes.

I talked to Frankie today and everybody is fine. Rachel is teaching at a pre-school and likes it and all the children are doing well in school. They won't be able to come for Thanksgiving though. We'll miss them but we'll all have fun anyway.

Friday 13th

Half the day was gone before I realized it was Friday the 13th. I'm not suspicious but it is a pretty outstanding day.

I went into town to go to the Clinton St. Antiques Store. It's in a small Victorian house on Clinton St. in Athens. It was fun looking around and the lady who owns the store lives upstairs and makes earrings. I bought 3 pair. The pair she didn't make was $2.00 and the pairs she did make were $3.00 a pair. I liked her style and will go back and buy more.

Dad is still feeling bad but is up changing the bird cages and making all the weird noises he likes to make when he cleans the cages.

Gar-bage Time

Thursday again and the trash goes out. Usually, Bobby, our neighbor, takes it out for us, but it was dark (7:00 PM) and he hadn't gotten it out, so we got it out. We had the garbage can plus three 3' shelves boxes. It wasn't too hard to get it out.

I washed two loads of clothes and put them away. Cooked some corn bread on top of the stove. The first batch, I just used Pam and after tasting one (it was dry and tasteless....) I added some oil to finish the rest. We had 15 bean soup, rotini and chicken and corn bread and milk.

I had gotten 4 Christmas cloth place mats at the yard sale and I washed them and put them on the kitchen table. They look good and it helps me keep junk off the table. Frank was feeling better today but still not feeling better from the day he had the fever. He's getting fever blisters now. Poor dear, he suffers a lot.

Temple Project Completed

On our going out day, Karen asked me to help her put together a temple photo album with 25 of the temples in it. We used my scrapbook paper as a background and taped the pictures to it and the name of the temple below. The last part was taping, "what temple is it?", over the names of the temples. Her granddaughter will have fun with this album.

I came home about 12:15 PM and fixed us some lunch and then just worked around the house. We watched a Conference report after dinner and then put the birds to bed and went to our rooms. Since Frank doesn't like watching the news, I watch The O'Reilly Factor to get my news.

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

Rain

I had to go out and get a few things at K-Mart and Walmart and the rain was coming down. I had to stop at K-Mart first and with the wind and rain and an umbrella, I still got wet. When I got out of Walmart, it wasn't raining that hard and when I got home, the rain had stopped.

I've been doodling some. I've got to practice in order to have a natural feel about it, or find my own style of doodling. I sent Trudy my first doodle card. I haven't made any cards lately. I sent Ruth the last card I made. It was her birthday and I was a day late with it, but I finally got it in the mail.

Dad is still feeling bad. He doesn't bounce back as fast as he used to. And of course, staying in bed a lot makes you weaker.

What Day Is It Again

I made it to exercise this morning. Jan was there. didn't get to talk to her. I went home afterwards because I had forgotten to take my medicine. Then I went on to Karen's house for our study time. The cattle that live behind their property were really giving off a barnyard smell! She came out to smell the ozone smell of my car. It is so strong that is burns the back of my throat after I've been in it for a while. Frank came out and we read the car manual and found out how to get the fresh air to come into the car. It's going to be raining the next few days or I would let the windows down during the day. After the rain, the sun, so I can still do that.

Sick Sunday

Dad didn't feel good Saturday but worked with George getting the threshold in the basement door fixed. He did too much and was out of it this morning so I didn't go to church. He stayed in bed all day. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.

I watched plenty of BYU TV today. Mostly rested and played with the birds after supper. Trudy and George did a great job getting the shelves up and organizing everything. Now, I'll have to go downstairs and tidy the little things up. There's still things in the bathroom that don't need to be there and things in my laundry area that don't belong there. We did get rid of a lot of empty boxes trash day and maybe the basement will look a little better.

Alabama Wins!

Alabama was playing LSU in football today. George was putting up shelves and then would go and watch some TV and then go back downstairs sst half time and work some more. I helped Trudy move things around and get everything organized. George carried the cedar chest out of Trudy's old room. I thought it was very heavy but George is so strong that he just picked it up and put it outside of the room.

I gave the bed away to some woman who said she would come back and get it. I couldn't stay longer at the yard sale and had to come home. I got a Coke box for Trudy and she liked it. I got some luggage for Dad but he wasn't interested, so it will be mine. It's just big enough for an overnight-er.

Harold and Nancy are such sweet people. Saw Brenda at the yard sale, too. She and Bobby are outstanding people too. We have really been blessed with good neighbors.

Friday, November 6, 2009

Yard Sale Day

I went up to the yard sale and found 3 dolls that my granddaughter Kayla likes and I got them. Then, I found 4 metal refrigerator that I think Trudy will like. Nancy gave me the $8.00 for my rug and 25 cents for something. It was probably for the door hanging. To get rid of the bed I guess I'll have to say it's free and maybe that way someone will take it off. The old exercise bike is still there. Maybe it would go if it's free..dun know.

After I got back from the yard sale, Frank wanted to go to town to get some screws and things for some projects around the house.

Trudy and family are coming over tomorrow to help put up the shelves Trudy bought at Sam's today. We gave her the money and she got them for us. George wants to watch the Alabama football game here and that will be great! I'll have someone to watch the game with.

Thursday, November 5, 2009

Temple Trip

My rug sold at the yard sale for $8.00. That was a steal of a price, but that's okay. I haven't been up there yet. In about an hour, I'll be getting dressed to go to the Temple. Frank talked to Billy Geer last night and he has lots of health problems that are keeping him from driving his van. Bro. Mitchell has a nice big car which can hold 5 people. It's nice weather for the trip. Nice weather for the yard sale. Our neighbors own the top lot next to Hy 72 and it is a prime location for a yard sale.

Frank has been going through a lot of the empty boxes we have downstairs and I had hopes that he would throw most of them away, but not today. We could put them on the burn pile, but for some reason he doesn't want to do that. Can you say pack rat?

Wednesday, November 4, 2009

Car Back

I got the new Accord back this morning. I had to drive with the smell of ozone in it. Of course, I didn't want to have the windows down, so I just hoped I wouldn't keel over from the smell of the ozone. Perhaps the perfume smell is gone and Frank will be happy.

Harold came by today to get the stuff for the yard sale. I'm giving most of the things away but it's better than having it in the basement. The yard sale will be Thursday-Saturday. (not literally giving things away, just pricing them so low someone will want them. You know, one man's trash is another man's treasure).

Bro. Mitchell is going to the Temple tomorrow afternoon and I'm going too. He wants to take Thomas, his grandson who is just back from his mission, and I hope Thomas will be driving. We missed going last month for Bro. Geer hasn't been feeling well and his van hasn't been going like it normally does.

Shipment Comes In

I can't believe I slept until 9:00 AM! I lept out bed and into my clothes that were leaning against the dresser and off to my morning chores! Sometimes, I exaggerate a bit....

The shipment from Utah came in and it was all in 6 cases. The Fedx man brought them in and placed them under the stairs for us. He said they were very heavy and we were thankful that he was able to do this for us.

The Honda place called today and said that the car was ready and we could pick it up tomorrow morning. I drove the old Honda today to Dollar General to buy some milk and it drove quite well to be so old. We are told too pray over our "flocks and herds" and those two cars are certainly our herds!

I Put the Rat Up

I have this wonderfully evil black rat that is as large as a small cat, sitting on it's haunches with it's mouth open and you can see his bright red tongue hanging between his crooked white teeth and his eyes are bright red and he has a nice long, black tail. I like to place him on the porch to greet people who come to the door at night. Dad hates it, and I love it. I'm putting it away today and I've decided to name him, "Charles". Now to remember that name by next October!

We never have any trick or treaters but I always buy a bag of candy, just in case...I had a church meeting that night and Frank had the goblins and witches all to himself. No one came by. Could it be that the house was all dark except for Frank's bedroom light in the back of the house? Now we have a bag of Tootsie Roll candy that I will give to the neighborhood kids that take our garbage out.

This morning Karen followed me to H'ville to leave the new Accord at the shop to get deodorized. It'll be gone for 2-3 days. I guess I'll be driving the fishing car when I go anywhere. That's what I call the 19-20 year old Honda that we use when Frank has to go the Dr's office. It still runs and the air conditioner still runs. I don't know how much longer it will run, but hopefully it will give us another year or two of good service.

Saturday Night #3

I didn't expect to go out today so I didn't put any make-up on and was dressed in tacky clothes all day. While I was in the kitchen, I noticed a call on the phone. Karen had called and asked if wanted to go to the Stake center for the adult session of Stake conference. I called back to say I didn't feel well and would probably not go, but she called back before she listened to my message and I said I would go. She and Mary Lou and I rode over to the Stake center and Ken and Bob were already there. It was a nice meeting. Stake conference will be piped into our Ward building tomorrow and it will nice to not have to go back to H'ville again. The meeting will be from 10:00-12:00 PM.

Went To Huntsville

I met Trudy at Hobby Lobby and we shopped. Everything, most everything, was on %50 off. Now, I'll be running out of room if I don't use the embellishments soon. I got a booklet about doodling which will add to my cards.

We spent about an hour shopping and then since Trudy and the kids were driving to Mary Kate's house today, we didn't have time to go to Trudy's house and make cards. We went to Alabama Bakery and had a bowl of soup with tough white bread and a pastry for dessert. It was a pleasant lunch. After lunch, we parted ways and I came home. I had stopped by Staples on the way out and bought a big box of paper for the printers. We had to open the box in the trunk of the car and carry the paper in plastic sacks, for it was too heavy for us to pick the box up.

The Week Is Flying By

I cooked this morning. I had made beef stew two days before but Frank wanted some beans so I cooked beans yesterday and today I cooked broccoli and cauliflower and made some Rotini salad with chicken in it. We now have plenty of food fixed. I enjoyed the cooking.

I swept downstairs where the organ used to be and cleaned off some of the stuff that was on the dresser under the stairs. Trudy wants that dresser and I'm going to use that space for some more storage things I have.

I'm going to meet Trudy at Hobby Lobby in the morning and after we look over the store, we're going to her house to make cards. She and the kids are going to Mary Kate's house tomorrow for the week-end and will have lots of fun. Trudy talked to Frankie and things are going well for him.

Trunk or Treat

I went this morning to church to decorate for Trunk or Treat tonight. We decorated the Primary rooms,(4) where the games will be. The Relief Society will have musical chairs and Primary will have Go Fish, Putting a Skeleton Together, Bean Bag Toss, and Pin the Eye on the Monster. I don't know what other games there will be. I am wearing jeans, shirt and a hat with gray hair hanging out the sides. The wig wouldn't stay on without the hat. I pinned a rose on the top of the hat and I have a pumpkin necklace that lights up and I have pumpkin earrings. It should be fun. The kids won't know who I am because I can't be seen when I'm sitting at the piano!

I ordered from Emergency Essentials today.

Light Rain

It rained lightly all day today. I cleaned the basement so the organ could go out and cooked beef stew from scratch. It turned out good. The meat was tender and the veggies were all cooked, a nice meal even if I do say so myself!

Frank has been sick all day. He seems to feel like tomorrow will be a bad day also. I had a cancer meeting to go to tonight but I called and told Lou that I wouldn't be attending. It's sad to see him so sick and feeling bad.

I'll go to H'ville early in the morning-8:00 AM- and pick up his Rx and then get back home in time to help decorate the Primary room for the Trunk or Treat tomorrow night. Having no children, I wouldn't be going, but I need to help support the Primary presidency and it'll be fun. Friday, I'm going to Trudy's house to make cards. It's always fun to visit there.

I Can't Believe It's Monday Again!

Wow! Time is surely flying...whether you're having a good time or not. .

Didn't go to exercise today. I didn't want to wake up at 7 AM and spend 15 minutes putting my make-up on, and 15 min. to get dressed and 15 min. to eat breakfast and then 15 min. to get to the Senior Center.

We had our scripture study today. We covered Sections 63-65. Afterwards we talked. Then, I went to Walmart for groceries. I was able to get Frank 4 more T-shirts like he likes, an umbrella for the old Honda and the cost of some telephones. Plus a bit of food.

Rode Alone

Karen had an 8:15 AM meeting and I didn't want to go to church that early, so I drove myself. Primary went well.

The Sweeny's might take the organ. They are across the street neighbors. Frank found a price tag on the back of the organ that said $2400.00 back in the 50's, I think. I didn't want to sell it, I just wanted to get rid of it so we could have the room downstairs. We'll have to move a lot of things in order to be able to move it through the back door. Where there's a will, there's a way!

Happy Fun Day

I left for Eva, AL at 7:00 AM. It takes under an hour to get there. After I got to my brother's house, Ruth and I then got into her car and we drove to Wallace State, a small Junior College near Cullman. It was a cooking school. They gave everyone a goodie bag with all sorts of things in it, and it had two magazines with recipes. We would turn to a page and the cook would cook that recipe. It was pretty neat. The auditorium was full. There were door prizes and even the food was given away as prizes. After that, we went to this little seafood restaurant and had catfish files and cole slaw and a baked potato. It was very good and very fresh. After that, we went to this big Catholic church-retreat. I've forgotten the name of it but Sis Angelica lives there. I bought a 24" stainless steal necklace (nothing on the necklace). About all of my necklaces are 17" and are a tad too long, so in my little, demented mind, I thought a 24" necklace would be shorter!!! The wheels in my brain are barely moving and are grinding to a halt even as I speak. I left for home after we got back to Ruth's house. My brother had been arranging his books on his book case.

Slow and Easy Day

I went to exercise today. It was rainy and only about 12 people were there. I was glad to be up and to be out. I came home after exercise. I need to cook some more Rotini salad today. Tomorrow, I'm going with Ruth to Wallace State for some sort of a cooking school taste off. She would laugh at my description of it. I should be back in the afternoon.

It's in the 70's now and is supposed to in the 50's tomorrow. It still warms up in the afternoon.
The birds and Dad are chirping now. The bird's started first. It's getting close to the time he usually cleans their cages and they get excited for he sings to them. Most would not call it singing, but the birds love it.

VT Day Was Successful

I met All at the church at 10:00 AM and we went to Sis Knowles house first, then to the Decker's and then we found Sis Ford and right down from her we found our last sister! We saw all four of our sisters and that makes us 100% for October! Hopefully it will be as easy next month.

I got home at 2:00 PM and was ready for lunch! This was the second day I didn't eat lunch at the right time in two days. The rotini salad was good and now I can buy more canned chicken from Sam's. Before I learned about this salad, I didn't know how to use the canned chicken.

Ruth White, my sister-in-law called and I will go with her to Wallace State on Saturday for a cooking taste off. That's not the real name of it, but I don't remember what she said. It sounded like fun.

Out Most Of The Day

I went to exercise class then came home and at 10:30 AM Karen came by and picked me up and we went to Jan Latham's to pick up the Primary secretary's materials and then on to the church to clean out the Primary closet. She had to know how many complete lessons manuals were in the closet. We had to count picture packets that went with the manuals. I put a complete picture packet into sleeve protectors. We were there a good three hours. It was fun.

Frank had found a package of whole wheat egg noodles and I cooked the entire package tonight. I served them with cream of mushroom soup. I really don't like noodles but since I have quite a bit left, I'll make a tuna casserole with them.

Going VT with my new partner tomorrow at 10:00 AM. I'm looking forward to meeting Ann and hope we can find the sisters she couldn't contact. We'll see Sis. Decker and Pat Knowles for sure.

Fireside Night

There was frost on the car windshield again but I didn't have to get out to go anywhere. I washed two loads-should have been three for I crammed in another set of sheets. I hope they all got clean.

Frank's feet and spine are hurting him today. It was supposed to be a good day today.

I'll be going to the church fireside at 6:00 PM. I hope it will be good. You get out of it what you take with you, so hopefully, I'm prepared!

Mild Monday

The sun came out today but there was frost on the windshield at 8:00 AM when I went out to go to exercise. I left town and drove to Karen's for our scripture study. It was nice, but I wasn't prepared as I could have been. I've found the Institute manual and can now have some helps when I read the sections.

Trudy has had some problems with her lap top and has a friend coming over tonight to transfer the information onto another hard drive. Ho, ho, I don't know anything about what I just said!

Thanksgiving will be at Trudy's so I can be there. I hope Frankie and his family will be able to be there too.

Dad had a bad day today. Tomorrow will be better. Tomorrow night there is a fireside in H'ville with a General Authority. I'm going to go and hope it will be very spiritual.

Black Sunday

Things went well at church. It was right cold this morning! I guess it's to be expected since it's the middle of October. The leaves on the trees are starting to turn and when it gets all pretty, then come the rains and washes all the leaves away. Ah, such is life...

We're trying to get three more shelves for the basement. We still have the organ and I don't really know how to get rid of it. I've been playing it and enjoying it but it takes up so much room where it is.

Going to exercise class tomorrow then over to a friend's house to study the Doctrine and Covenants. We we were doing it before but then had to quit because I had my knee operations. That took all the summer to recover but now I'm ready to begin again.

Saturday Night And I Ain't Got No Money...

Got to listen to Kim Kamando this morning. A football game must have started in the afternoon, for usually the ball game pushes Kim out of the spot.

I did the usual things for a Saturday, washed a load of clothes, folded towels, and put everything away. Tonight I addressed 10 Halloween cards, 8 for the grandchildren. I included $2.00 plus a recent picture of me and Frank. We don't get to see Frankie's children much and I didn't want them to forget about us. I also sent a couple of cards to friends.

It was coat weather today. I just went out to the mail box but I wore my coat for it was cold.

Bad News

April can't get the organ! Since she's living with her parents, her Dad said that he didn't want the basement cluttered up. Oh, well.

I went to exercise this morning. I was glad to get back. I'll really have to remember what day of the week it is so I won't miss any days.

It's been another gloomy day today. Rain is forecast again, I think. It will be nice to get some sunshine again.

I made a card from a pattern that I had made when I was going to the card class. It turned out pretty fair.

My VT partner and I have never met. We've been e-mailing. I suggested going next Tuesday. Maybe meeting at the church since she has a Tanner address. I got her to call and I will give the lesson.

Trash Day Always

That means it's Thursday. I went grocery shopping at 2:00 PM and Frank already had the garbage collected and I just put it in the can and rolled it to the edge of the sidewalk where Bobby Adams picks it up. I didn't get a lot of food but it still cost over $100.00 dollars! Everything has gone up. No telling what the future will bring.

I'll try and go to exercise tomorrow. I've been forgetting what day of the week it is and I miss going.

I have a new VT partner, Ann Rudy. I don't know her yet, but she sent me an e-mail and she sounds like a good partner. I hope she is more of a go-getter that I am or we'll be in trouble. We have four sisters to visit and I know two of them. It'll be fun to get to know the other two.

Wednesday Already?

I didn't do anything this morning but at 1:00 PM I went over to Karen's house to help hem up the skirt she'll be wearing for her son's wedding. We sat and talked and then went out to see the animals. There was a 2 month old colt that was new. It came up to about mid thigh on me-these are miniature horses. The chickens had a new coup but all the rain still made the ground pretty muddy. We walked on down were there were more chickens, too small to be put into the larger pens with the older chickens. There was this cute little black rooster with feathers on his legs and what looked like a bobbed tail. Every time one of the larger roosters would crow, this little black rooster would crow back too. It was nice hearing them! It was after 4:00 before I got home.

During supper, we watched Glen Beck and had the birds out and then put them to bed. Since we missed the postman today I have to go into town and mail some letters and buy a few groceries.
I need to pick out a time to take the car to the dealership to get the odor out of it. Karen said she would take me to do this.

Relief Society Night

Relief Society was nice tonight. We all met in the RS room first and had a spiritual message and then played a bingo game to get the sisters to mingle and get to know each other. I just sat in my chair because I don't like those kind of games!

Next we went into the cultural hall where the food and tables were set up for the talents. There were three of us who made cards. Amy Boston brought some of her pictures and there were art pictures and Karen had 4 of her dolls dressed in fall and Halloween costumes. The food was light refreshments and was nice. We got home around 9:00 PM. It's been raining all day and night.

Monday, October 12, 2009

Monday Again

I didn't do much this morning but after lunch I drove into town and checked out the new store that took over the old Goodies store. It's called Burke's Outlet Store. The clothes are not as good quality as Goodies was. It's more like the Ross store in H'ville (I think). There were plenty of people there buying things. You could get a shirt or skirt or jacket for $7.99. It has a Petite section and that's where I would shop.

For supper tonight, we had the freeze dried food I had ordered to sample. It was good and in an emergency, it would be tasty food. You need boiling water so it wouldn't be as convenient as the MRE's would be.

Tomorrow night, R.S. enrichment night, they are going to have tables set up to display the various talents of the sisters. Karen is going to take one or some of her dolls and doll clothes to display and I'm taking my hand made cards. It should be a great evening.

Sunday Evening

We went to church and it wasn't as cool as I thought it was going to be. It was testimony meeting which I had forgotten, but it was good. Primary went well. Sis Wright was the chorister and she did a good job. I need to practice the piano some each week and must discipline myself to do it. It was fun having Sophia, Nate and Mary Kate in Primary with me.

After church,we talked and some went to the computer and some watched BYU TV and some took a nap. I just sat on the couch with my eyes closed and rested that way. Before supper, Mary Kate and the kids and I walked down to feed Danny Boy some apples and walked a little farther and looked at the alpacas.

Dad gave Richard a computer monitor and Richard also took the two old air filters that we were going to dispose of. They left around 6:15 PM.

A Day of Shopping

We left for H'ville at 9 AM and headed for Sam's of look for some shelves for downstairs. They didn't have any but Costco's will have some shelves like we like on sale on a couple of weeks.

Trudy met us at Shoe Carnival. I had to take back a pair of shoes I got for Frank and he didn't like. Mary Kate bought Sophia a pair of boots. We made a quick pass in Michael's but didn't buy anything. Next we went to the Mall so I could check the sleep number beds.

I got to find my sleep number and decided on what kind of topping I liked and got a price on a twin bed. I have a few days to get it at the sale price. I really want it and feel it would help me with my back. They would bring it and set it up and take away my old bed. I can have 30 days to try it out to see if I like it.

We went to Kohl's to check out some sales. Mary Kate bought the children a wrap since it has turned cold here. And it will be cold at church too.

Family Coming

I made the chicken rotini and baked the chocolate cake and frosted it while talking on the phone to Trudy. I washed a load of clothes, filled my pill bottles and now am taking a rest! Oh, I vacuumed the floors also. I like to be busy and want to do the work. It's bad to have lots of things to do and not want to do anything.

Frank has felt bad all day. He's doing the birds now and singing (caterwauling). It helps him bear the pain.

Obama got the Nobel Peace Award today. It makes me sick. He is such a fraud. He makes me sick. We don't watch the news anymore. We enjoy re-runs of Cops! Can't watch much of that channel for it is far to crude to watch.

April Came

April came over to look at the organ and she likes it. I've had fun playing around with it and playing hymns. She said she could get her dad and perhaps the missionaries to come over to help. There is a lot of "stuff" that has to be moved on order to get the organ out the back door. We hope to buy some metal shelves to put in the organ's place. Maybe we can get things organized then.

I didn't go anywhere today. After I met with April, I washed my bedspread and then the one that was on the downstairs bed. I'll wash some more tomorrow. I need to make the rotini and bake the cake. Since Richard isn't coming, I won't worry about the meals.

I made several cards today. I can't stop using flowers as decorations. I'm getting quite a few cards ahead now and I'm glad.

Work Day #2

I went to Walmart to buy some new sheets for the guest room bed. All I had were left overs from when the children were at home and they didn't look so good and I wanted to have the room looking good for when Mary Kate and her family come this week-end.

The choice of colors wasn't too good and I ended up with medium blue sheets. When I was putting them on the bed I realized that the sheets were of two different colors-both blue but one a tad darker than the other! Oh, well. The bed is made up and a new bedspread on it. I cleaned the bathroom and swept the floors. I will still have some washing to do tomorrow. My bedspread and the one I took off downstairs need washing.

I bought a frozen lasagna for the week-end and I can make my chicken and rotini dish and I have a chocolate cake to bake and we can always go to the grocery store for more. I look forward to the visit.

I'm interested in getting a Sleep Number bed and I'll get Mary Kate to go to H'ville with me. Maybe Richard will want to go too. There's lots to find out about those beds and I don't know much right now.

No Trip Today

I was dressed and ready to go but the temple trip was canceled. Karen had e-mailed me at 11:45 PM telling me about it but I don't usually get on the computer until the evening so I missed the message.

I made some pretty cards today. I need to get into my storage closet where I keep my flowers and see if I have any small, green leaves. I had some small pansies I put on a card and put three small green leaves with the pansies and all of this was on a pale green card and I stamped a message on it and it turned out pretty good. I made a card with a bunch of different colored smiley faces on it. I penned "ha-ha-ha, hee-hee-hee and ho-ho-ho!" on the card. I'll send it to one of the grandchildren.

Banking and Grocery Shoping

I went to Walmart to get a few things on my list but since it didn't contain any food I strolled around and put food in my basket. I bought a new thermometer, one that you slide over the forehead to get the temperature. It cost $34.00. I was amazed at the cost of everything I bought! I didn't buy any make up or clothes and everything cost over $200.00! I have to leave some money for this week-end when Mary Kate and her family come.

I made about 3-4 cards today. I think they look good. I'll have to wait until Trudy and Mary Kate see them and tell me what they think.

Conference Continued

I woke up at 3:00 AM and couldn't go back to sleep so I got on the computer and looked up high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Not for me for I take medicine for my cholesterol and I have low blood pressure. It was for Frank. He thinks the high blood pressure medicine he was trying brought on the fevers he had last week. He's now breaking out in fever blisters in his nose, mouth and lips. His disease is not a nice one to have. He has a form of juvenile arthritis and he runs high fevers when his dose of predsone becomes upset. Then he gets the fever blisters.

Conference has been good, it's just hard to sit for two hours. Being at home watching it on TV, one has the advantage of being able to get up and go to the kitchen and bathroom and not miss much.
It's almost 3 PM and the last secession is about to start so I'll stop.

Saturday, October 3, 2009

Conference Saturday

I love to go back to bed after breakfast and listen to the radio and snooze some more but I got up at 8:00 AM because I had gone to bed late so I was in bed when Conference come on TV. After listening to President Monson's talk, I realized I should get up and get dressed and get serious about listening to the speakers. So I did. Later, Frank got up and we watched it together.

Got a temple trip planned for Tuesday. I'll get picked up at 3:45 PM and I guess we'll make it to the 6 PM session. Brother Geer has been having some health problems lately and hasn't taken the van, I believe.

We have ordered some samples of some freeze dried food to see how it tastes. With the economy the way it is, and all the advertising about buying gold, I don't know how long our currency is going to be good. I want to invest it in something that will last and be for our benefit.

Fiddler's Convention

I met Bubba and Ruth at 2:00 PM and we went in their car and found a place to park for $5.00. We, Ruth and I, walked around and looked at the booths and she found a lady who could set her piece of amber in a necklace setting. We both bought a pair of earrings for $7.00. At 4:00 PM, a group of bluegrass musicians played and we sat and listened. I guess I've gotten too old for country music, for I didn't really enjoy it. I could have gone to dinner with Bubba and Ruth but Frank hasn't been feeling well and I came on home and fixed us supper and we watched Cop's and then read from the Book of Mormon. I'm really enjoying this reading time we have together. We usually get the birds out a while before we read and that is enjoyable too.

Tomorrow is General Conference. At first, I thought I would miss some of Conference by going to the Fiddler's Convention, but Conference doesn't start until Saturday morning. I'm going to take notes this time and see if I can remember more of the messages.

Didn't Wear Make-up

Since I wasn't going out today I just powdered my nose and put on my eyebrows. Don't remember what I did but make cards. Trudy's sending a pattern over sometime that I can put together and then use the pattern and make my own cards.

Dad had fevers last night so he didn't feel too good today. He thinks it might be the new medicine he is taking for his high blood pressure. He needs the blood pressure medicine but if he can't take it, I don't know.

Tomorrow's the Fiddler's Convention. It's supposed to rain tomorrow but the clouds are to break in the afternoon and then rain again after midnight. Maybe we can get some fiddle time in there somewhere!

To Huntsville I Did Go

I was up early and out of the house before 9:00 AM. I had to stop by the P.O. to take a package by and then had to take Frank's shoes by the shoe shop to get repaired. Then it was on the H'ville to see Dr. Sharp. After Dr. Sharp, I went by the Pain Clinic and then to the AT&T store because our phone wasn't working right and then on to Hobby Lobby. Not much was on sale and I didn't have a coupon but I did manage to gather some stuff into my basket! I've made quite a few cards and now have to get some different paper, from my stash, to inspire me some more. I can't wait until I'm over flowing with cards!

Heard from Ruth today about the Fiddler's Convention this Friday. It may rain then so then we couldn't go. Maybe we can see some of it before it pours.

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

Slow Tuesday

I was already to go back to bed after breakfast and listen too the radio when Richard Mason, a neighbor down the road, called to see if we would like some deer meat. He cleans out his freezer getting ready for the new hunting season and gives us what's left. Frank talked to him and he said he would bring it up for us. I got dressed then and he brought the meat up about 12:00 PM. I did make some cards while I waited for the meat.

The cards are rather plain. The card paper was so lovely that I just put a flower on some of them and stamped on the inside. I made 7 cards today. I had to quit for I was getting shaky. I get inspired by pretty paper the most.

I need to order some things from a catalog and since I'm not used to ordering over the phone and it makes me nervous and I keep putting it off. Maybe Frank will help me when he gets to feeling better.

Monday, September 28, 2009

Monday, the Ordinary

I got up at 7:00 AM to get ready for my 8:30 exercise class. It was the first time I had been back since my operation and it was good to get back. After exercise, I was going to take Dad's shoes by the cobbler but they weren't open at 9:30 AM so I came home. I had gone off with out my purse so didn't have my driver's license. I was anxious to get home.

I cooked some beans and a cabbage for supper and had a few pieces of corned beef left and we had a good dinner. I made some cards. I've got to make some for the grandchildren and I want Frank to make copies of a picture of us to send to the g-children.

Had to go make myself a note to make an appointment with Dr. Moore to see about my knee. He hasn't seen me since the hospital stay. I think I need some PT at the Wellness Center. Maybe not a whole month of it but maybe about 6 visits, if that will be enough. I need to call Dr. Walker to see if he'll prescribe some medicated shampoo for me without having to see me.

Sunday, the Happy

The Primary program was a success! The children sang out and they knew their parts and everything went smoothly. Sis Shelby was released and Karen was called and she kept Jennifer Shirts as a counselor and Sis Gorton and her other counselor. No music people were called but their names were approved. Karen is having two music people because it's too much for one person to do. I don't care as long as they give me a schedule with all the numbers on it!

We had a good Sabbath day. We didn't watch any TV except the BYU channel. I made three or four cards and enjoyed that. Soon I'll have some cards that I can send to my friend, Kathy. Trudy is making Christmas cards as presents, I think. She can really make good cards.

Sandy Sommerfeld called tonight. She is at her son's house in Huntsville with her daughter and grandson. She wants me to drive up there and get them and then we would go to Charlotte Cooper's horse farm. I don't want to do that. I would feel better if they came here and then I drove to Charlotte's.

Not Much To Do

It's been raining profoundly all day. Our yard has little riverlets and large ponds in it. I can always tell how much rain has fallen by how full the bird bath is. It is full to overflowing! Only long legged bird can bathe in it right now.

I vacuumed the floors. Saturday has become the vacuuming day. I was gone a lot last week and didn't have time to sweep the floors like I usually do. I need to wash a load of clothes but I don't want to. Shelley Merrill says to wash a load and burn a load and you will get through sooner. I don't have a load to burn today.

The Primary program is tomorrow and I'm glad when it's over. Sis. Shelby is going to be released as Primary president for she has to move out of town and Karen Decker has been called to be the new president. Who will she get to do the music? She was so good that not just anyone can fill her shoes. Maybe she'll keep the old councilors. The were good too.

I made 4 cards today. They were sympathy cards and I used some things Trudy gave me. It's good too back making cards.

Friday, September 25, 2009

Hair Cut Day

I called for an appointment to get my hair cut today and was told that my hair dresser didn't work there anymore! Another girl did it and it was too short but it was even and she did a good job. I'll probably stick with her and try to train her to cut it the was I like it. It will always grow.

Next I stopped by Merle Norman to get come face cream and then I went to Walmart. I spent under $100.00 and got everything on my list except some First Aid paper tape.

I came home and rested and read a book Sandy Sommerfeld gave me and got tired and took a little nap that lasted all afternoon! Am I slothful...you bet!

Card Day #2

I went to Trudy's today to make cards. I made several cards using the same method and then we had lunch. I was tired and didn't want to make any more cards. The next time we meet to make cards we will know what to do. It was a very fun day. I got home before 3:00 PM.

I put all of my card stuff away and helped Dad get the garbage out. I'm ready for a rest now.

Later...it's after supper, the birds are put away for the night and I am going to look at some cards and then get ready for bed. It's been a great day!

To H'ville Shopping

Our trip to Amish country will be next week. Today we visited Kid's Mart and Karen got a couple of things and I found a fanny pack for Dad. Then we went to H'ville to this sewing place and Karen bought some needles for her sherger. Next we went to Madison to the Pottery Place. I bought some flowers and a meat thermometer. I hope to use some of the flowers in card making.

I almost finished the Halloween cards and will do that at Trudy's tomorrow. Karen is going to be the new Primary President and she asked me to make 4 cards the children could sign for the outgoing presidency. I have four cards I already made but may make 4 more at Trudy's house tomorrow.

We are in for a week of rainy weather. It rained on us today most of the time. We may get 2" of rain.

Very Good Day

Sandy Sommerfeld, a good friend We haven't seen in several years, spent two nights with us. She left today to go visit and stay with another friend of hers, Charlotte Cooper. The Mabry's picked her up this afternoon and came in for a visit. It was nice. Roy's cologne nearly killed Dad, but he didn't say anything, thank goodness!

Today, we went to Decatur to have lunch with some of the teachers Sandy had at Calhoun College. My children had them too so they knew who I was. It was Dr. Moss, I think she was the head of the music dept. and Joyce Lowman, Frankie's piano teacher, and Joan Goree, a voice teacher. It was very nice and Dr. Moss paid for it all! I had the coconut shrimp and couldn't taste the shrimp for all of the other stuff that was on it! I didn't want dessert but Sandy ordered it for me. I ended up with the Chocolate Wave cake and ice cream which reminded me of the Tall Cake served at Ruby Tuesdays. We left at 3:00 PM to get home in time for Roy and Vivian Mabry to pick up Sandy and take her to Charlotte's house for a bar-be-que at her horse ranch. After we all had a nice, short visit with the Mabry's. Then, after Dad changed his shirt, we watched Cops, which is what we like to do instead of watching the news (Obama makes us sick...) and then read a chapter from the Book of Mormon.

Tomorrow, we'll (Karen and another lady) be going to Amish country. Karen's other friend wanted to go to get some apple butter or something so that's what we'll do for our Wednesday outing. Should be fun.

Why Can't I Remember It's Monday?

Sandy and I went to lunch at a friends house and the neighbor from next door came over too. It was a nice visit. We left and popped over to Shelley Merril's house to visit with her for a short time and then went back to Mary Ann's so Sandy could see her daughter. These people used to be Sandy's neighbors. We came home and Sandy got on the computer while I made my Halloween cards. Made 8 of them, one for each grandchild. I think they turned out pretty good.

Tomorrow I don't remember what Sandy will be doing but she will be having supper with Charlotte Cooper and the Mabry's, at Charlotte's horse farm. That should be a good time. I think she's staying with Charlotte that night. Tonight will be the last night she will spend with us.

Last night we got to see Josh and his fiancee, Carrie. They're getting married in May, I think. They are both 27 years old.

Practice Was Good

The practice for the Primary program was good today. I made far too many mistakes at the piano but with practice all this next week, hopefully next Sunday will be mistake free. I was a bit nervous playing on the grand piano and didn't keep my mind focused like I should have had it focused.

It rained really hard at 6:00 AM and we just had a gully washer at 7:30 PM. It's stopped now.

Sandy Sommerfeld and Josh and his girl friend are driving up from Birmingham now. Sandy will stay with us for two days. She's down here from Oregon to tie up some loose ends from her mother's estate and she said she was going to visit with all her friends while she was here. We're waiting for them now. Hopefully the rain hasn't delayed them.

Active Day

I went to H'ville to meet Trudy and the kids and go shopping at Micheal's and Sam's and Walmart. We ate a hamburger at lunchtime and the kids and I came home while Trudy shopped at Walmart. After we got home Trudy and I divided up the spoils of the trip. She got some of the pages of paper from the paper packs I bought. I have to get back into making cards for I have spent a lot of money lately getting stamps and paper, etc. It'll be good for me and give me something to do with my time.

I've got to change the bird waters while Frank vacuums the floors. They are really bad! I am tired and still have to wash my hair. Life's a blast!

Friday, September 18, 2009

VT Day

Mary Lou and I got out and did our Visiting Teaching today. We were fortunate and got all three of our sisters. Came home, had lunch and took a nap. Tomorrow, I'll meet Trudy and the kids in Huntsville and buy some groceries. We'll also stop at Michael' s for they are having a half price sale!

The weather is cool and rainy. No trees are turning yet. I guess it's because of all the rain we've had plus it may be too early for the leaves to turn.

Trash day Thursday

It's a rainy day and the trash has to be collected and taken out. I take it to the end of the sidewalk and then Bobby Adams takes it to the road for us. What a kindness!

I was going to have to drive over to the Decker's house to get some groceries I left in their van but Stacey brought them by on her way to town.

I must do my knee exercises in a while and maybe do some laundry, maybe! It's really a lazy day. I could also clean the bars of the bird cages. They really need cleaning. All in all, I'm not going to do much this day.

Misc. Day

I look forward to Wednesdays because Karen and I usually do or go out somewhere and it's nice to get out of the house. I called her today and she had forgotten it was Wednesday for she was involved in a project one of her daughters had asked her to do for her. She had to go into town to get some laminating done so she picked me up and we did that and she stopped at Wal-mart for me to do a little shopping and then we came home. She helped me get the groceries in and then sat down and visited for a bit. Frank came in and visited with us and it was a nice visit. I left two sacks of groceries in her van and I'll have to go get them tomorrow.

I want to look at some new paper I got to make cards. I get inspired by the paper. I need to get some more flowers in case I want to make more flower cards. I've given away so many cards that I need to get to making them again to refill my stock. Trudy is glad I'm into card making again so she can have someone to make cards with. She's all fired up about making cards and she is good at it.

Open House

Trudy met me at Hobby Lobby to go with me to the open house at the nursing home and rehab center I stayed in the week following my knee operation. To pass some time, we went into Hobby Lobby and looked around. I sort of want to get back to making cards and Trudy is excited in having someone to do cards with. I bought a book of papers and some stick-ons for the grand kids. I even bought some Halloween paper so I could make the grand kids a card.

The open house was for the new therapy wing of the nursing home. It was in the working while I was there with my right knee and the second time I was in there, it was completed and they were working patients there. I got to see a lot of people that worked with me in therapy and we had some light refreshments. It was a nice visit and I'm glad we went. Trudy had to go with me because I didn't know how to get there by myself. It was a fun day to be together.

After Trudy and I split, I went to Sam's to pick up a few things. I still have to go to Walmart to get the basics. If Walmart carries an item, then Sam's won't. I got a corn beef and put it on to cook as soon as I got home. We had it for supper and it was good. We were meat hungry!

Sunday, Sunday

The Primary program practice went well. Next week will even go better. My leg didn't hurt at all. I had my medicine just in case. I guess the chairs weren't deep enough to bother me. I just got some music that may be played in the program. It has a flute part and the piano melody line is a bit different than in the song book. I'll be practicing this week!

I rested some on the couch and then my Visiting Teachers came-Karen and Stacey Decker- and while they were still here, our Home teachers came! They are Bob Hill and Ken Decker. We had a nice visit and after they left I fixed supper, which consisted of left overs.

Tomorrow Dad sees Dr. Walker at 2:00 PM. That will last all afternoon. I guess Dr appointments are an art and not a science. Some of my Drs get to me pretty quickly and then the others, I have to wait a while.

The weather has been nice lately-in the 80's. Perhaps we will have a nice fall.

Fun Day in Eva

I don't know why I didn't post on Friday. I went to town to take the Salvation Army a load and then I went to this antique store and found an old timey potato masher and bought it for $5.00. I said if I ever found one like it I was going to get it and I did! I went home after that.

Today I went to see my brother in Eva, AL. My nephew, Bill, was down for a visit and I like to go and see him when ever I can because Bill and his sister and brother are the only family I have after my brother. We kid that one day I'll get a call that he has died and than I'll be an only child. Sounds morbid but it isn't. We always kid about serious things. Makes it easier to stomach!

My leg hurt while I was down there and I got a pill. I think that sitting too long makes it hurt. We start practicing the Primary Program tomorrow and I hope sitting on the piano bench won't hurt it. Which reminds me I need to get the music in order.

Dog Day

I had a dog of a day today. Maybe I had today's fun yesterday. I don't know but today was a bad day. Tomorrow, I'll take the things I've had piling up by my front door to the Salvation Army. By the door is a convenient place for things to gather for I see them and am reminded to take them out, but with my knee surgery, I haven't been able to get out. I'll get Dad to help with the magazines for I don't relish going up and down the stairs that many times.

Trudy thought Forrest might have the swine flu because two days ago he ran a fever and felt really bad. He didn't have a fever today but he does have a bad case of poison ivy. She's taking him to the Dr. tomorrow. Hope it's not the flu and hope he can get an Rx for the ivy.

Day Out #2

Diane, the PT lady called to say she would be by between 1-2:oo PM and I told her I would be gone, so she came shortly after that. In fact, I was just getting dressed when the door bell rang!

Karen came over and I drove us to H'ville to the Hobby Lobby. Karen had to buy some material to make quiet books for her grandchildren for Christmas. I didn't have anything to look for so I didn't spend any money. It's such a nice store.

My knee wasn't hurt too bad! I took a pain pill before I went and one after I came back and will take one at bed time so I can sleep. Sometimes, the leg will wake me up and I will have to take a pill. Sounds like I'm taking a lot of pills but I usually only have to take one pill a day, which is not that much considering what was done to my knee. I would like to watch a movie of the operation to see what all is done. I know the top of the bones are sawed off and the new knee is crammed into the place the old bones were! Ha-ha-ha! I know, I'm weird!

I've decided to get Trudy to help me come up with 4 card designs that I can make over and over so I'll always have cards to send when I need them. All I need is a simple pattern and then I could go to town.

It's Early

It's early in the day to be posting but I was already here from ordering medicine from Medco.

I slept good last night so didn't go back to bed. I washed and folded a load of laundry and the PT lady came around 12:00 PM. My knee always feels better after exercising. I have a couple of visits left with her and then I go ssee the Dr. and then I will be going to the Wellness Center for more PT. It won't be long until it's all over and I'll be own my own with my two new knees!

I don't have anything to do the rest of the day but will find something to do.

Labor Day '09

I felt frisky so I drove to the pharmacy and then to Walmart for a few things. Walking through Walmart was a bit much but my left knee did well. I felt I could go out because I did so well at church yesterday. Sis Terri Shelby, the Primary President said she was leaving after the program and that we would have a new president. I'm very sad. Terri would go on the Temple trip and seeing her each Sunday made her my friend. Her daughter needs her and she has to go. Sis Shirts is dreaming that she'll be called as the president and she might be. She would make a good president.

I got one load of laundry done today. I'll have one more to do tomorrow. After I got back from going to town, I just forgot I had clothes in the washer. After I got ready for bed, I remembered and went downstairs and put the load in the dryer. They will be all wrinkly tomorrow when I get them out. Oh, well, what else is new?

Well...

It's Saturday and I don't want to do all the things I need to do today! I guess I will, or Frank will, vacuum the floors today for we like clean floors for Sunday.

The grass got mowed today. I don't like it when it's so tall that it leaves dead grass clippings on the grass.. Oh, well. Since I don't mow the grass myself, I shouldn't complain (always reserve the right to complain!).

Talked to Mary Kate last night. She and family are visiting Heather at her home in Tennessee. They will have a nice time.

Dad is tired today, plus is prednesone day. He'll fell better tonight.

Ah-h-h!

If I worked or went to school, Friday would mean something, but being a lady of leisure, doing bon-bon duty, Friday is just another day. Saturday, now, means I have clothes to wash and put away and the floor to vacuum.

Frank drove me to town to the Post Office and the pharmacy. The little walking I did seemed to bother my knee. Got to still be patient. Frank's been having pretty good days lately. No fevers, which is good.

Throw Out Day

Another word for trash day. I have a large container of flour in the kitchen that someone dragged out while I was in the hospital and left in the kitchen. It has a date of 1994 on it so I's say it's safe to say it's no good food wise. I decided to put it in smaller packages and put it in the kitchen garbage.

PT came today. I had decided to stay in bed 'til 11:00 AM. I must have over done yesterday for that's all I felt like doing today. After she called, I jumped out of bed and into my clothes. Sandy Sommerfeld called and talked for a while. She is planning a trip back here to take care of her mothers home. She said she was planning on visiting us while she was in this neck of the woods.

It's off to play in the flour now!

Wendesday

Trudy came over to take Dad to the Dr this morning. I had been up at 3:00 AM with my knee so I was glad to just chill most of the day. I had my PT exercises today and have 5 more meetings. Some time I have to go see Dr. Moore and get my orders for the Wellness Center where I'll get more PT. I'll be glad when this knee is all better and I get my energy back. I'm tired of being "under the weather". I didn't have to have a pain pill today but I will take one tonight so maybe I can sleep all night.

Tuesday

I got some things accomplished today but I've forgotten them now! I did cook some rotini and made chicken salad with it for lunch. We finally got the final coat of paint on the door so Frank could put the doorknob on. It looks and works good.

Tomorrow, Trudy is coming over to take Dad to the Dr's office. I don't feel up to driving all that way and getting out and walking, etc. that that trip would entail. I must call the Dr's office and see when I can drive again and see when the Dr wants to see me again. I've only needed 2 pain pills today and that's good. I did my exercises and the PT lady will probably come tomorrow. I'll go to church Sunday so I'm easing back into life a little at a time.

Frankie called tonight. They are all doing good. Frank picked up the phone and hijacked the phone call. They talk about computers and I Phones and I zone out!

Talked to Trudy. She's getting some new duds because she's driving Dad to the Dr's office. Dad's paying for them and I told her to get some nice things.
