Wednesday

I went to exercise class today. Barbara was teaching. It was a good class. She and Jan know how to plan the exercises and get to the place in the music where the chicken dance music comes is, but I try to move too fast and get too far along in the exercises to match the music. I will try to slow down. The Center is closed next Monday and Tuesday. Some of the people come for the exercise and stay for the games and eat lunch at the center. I might too if I didn't have Dad to come home to.

I went to Walmart and the store was all organized! I had to ask where the men's T-shirts were so I could buy Frank some, but I found where the other things were I bought.

Came home and fixed lunch and then rested. I think my sinuses are acting up for my head feels full and I am tired.

I went through some of my old music and got some out for the girl that plays the piano for the choir and some music that I'll send to Kayla. I should practice the piano, but I didn't want to. I have no discipline.

Various Events

Today I had an appointment with Dr. Walker at 10:30 AM. Afterwards, I needed to go to Public's to get some Pepperidge Farms 100% whole wheat bread. Walmart didn't have any (I called to make sure). I also needed to get a chest X-ray for when I see Dr. Dang, next month. Both establishments were near each other, so the trip was successful.

It was dinner time and I didn't want to go to a different grocery store hungry, so I stopped at Burger King and got a hamburger and a diet Coke. After that, I went to get the X-ray and then on to Public's. It's a nice store and they take your groceries to your car, but they cost more than Walmart. With it's remodeling almost over, the Walmart store is lots larger. They closed the McDonald's and the material portion of the store and have spread out. And everything is in a different place than what it was. I'll get used to it some time, but I don't have to like it, ha-ha-ha!

Exercise Class

The exercise class went well. I had studied my notes last night and that helped. I still had my notes to look at and I used them. I want things to run smoothly and not have to rely on anyone in the audience. I still get hints and I really appreciate them but I do want to be able to do the routine without forgetting anything!

I went out to Karen's and we studied Sec. 114-116.

I came home after that and got lunch. I felt tired and took a small nap while the beans were cooking. When I woke up, I swiftly went to the kitchen to check on the beans. They still had plenty of liquid in them, but I burned the beans one time when I took a nap while they were cooking! Today was a bad day for Frank so he slept in. Sometimes his "good" days are bad and he loses lots of time that way. But what is time? A space where you get things done. There will always be more time to get things done until our time stops. Then, we won't worry.

Good Sunday

Had a good day at church. Primary went well. I have to work a bit harder with Sis. Wright because she goes over and over the song she is teaching the youngsters and I don't get any down time at the keyboard! After music, there is sharing time and I get to sit in a regular chair, but while I'm at the piano, I'm busy playing. Sis. Decker used to play games with the children, especially the older children, and I would have a break. I'm not really complaining, it's just different.

I drove by myself today for the Deckers had meetings after church. Next week, choir starts again, but Karen said she could wait and find something to do during choir practice so we'll ride together. It's her time to drive and I'm glad. I like to ride!

Our Home Teachers are coming over tonight at 8 PM. The month is almost over and they haven't been by yet. They usually come on Sundays but with our late meetings, they haven't had time, I bet. I'm glad they're coming tonight. We always enjoy their visits.

Saturday 's Travel

I got up at 7 AM and stayed up. Frank wanted me to mail a box at the post P.O. and I had a bill and some post cards to mail too. I got the National Geographic Kids magazine for all the grandchildren and sent them post card saying the magazine was coming and it was from Granny. I hope they like it. My dad used to send the Geographic World magazine to Frankie and we enjoyed it. I hope the grandchildren will like it too.

The P.O. didn't open until 9:30 AM and I got there about 9:24 AM! The wait wasn't too long and I got everything mailed. I had to get some TENA products so I went to Walgreen's but they didn't have what I wanted, so I went to CVS. They had the product and I even got a buy one get one free deal! At Walgreen's it cost $14.99 and two at CVS were under $14.00. I didn't want to go to Walmart so I came home after that.

Frank is asleep for it is prednisone day. I worked a 20 minute toning DVD. It wasn't outstanding but you never can tell until you buy it and try it. I have another DVD that uses weights that is better.

Friday After Trip

It was after 1 AM when I got to bed but I set the alarm at 7 AM so I could get up and go to exercise class. I needed to support Jan in her leading the class. I came home afterwards. I wasn't very tired but after lunch, I got a little nap in.

I'll have to find out from Trudy when our jewelery beals come in and the glue. I want to go over to her houses and make some more jewelery. I have a few things gathered to send to Frankie's kids and I was going to send the girls some jewelery, necklaces. I need to find some more paper for I don't like the paper I have. I have torn out a few sheets I think will do, but I haven't found the exact paper I want.

Temple Day

I got up at 7 AM and got started with the day. Usually I don't get much done when I know I have to go out of town that day, but I needed to do laundry, so I did it. It was prednesone day for Frank and he felt pretty bad so he's still asleep.

Since it's so hot outside, the grass is thick and green and with all the rain we've had, it's growing fast. We have a very large burn pile now with all the pruning we done and we had a tall, dead tree cut down and it's on the pile. We'll have to have some help when we burn it. Frank tells me not to worry about it but it needs to be taken care of and I want it done now. Such is life.

I've lost a total of 6 lbs and hope I can loose one more pound before all my food is gone. I got really tired of the diet and was about to mutiny, but then I weighed and found another pound gone and I decided to follow through with the diet. Living on regular food will be some what of a challenge, but if I can stay away from sugars, I can do it. Sugar is my drug to choice!

No Tital

Couldn't think of any title today. I led the exercise class today. I did pretty well. I use my notes less but still need them. I need to redo the notes and make them larger so I can see them better.

I went to Walmart to get the bananas I forgot yesterday. I also got an accordion visor for my car. I had been looking at jumbo ones for Frank's car and I got a jumbo one for my car and it's too big! I'll use it anyway. I'd rather have that kind than the round ones that twist and fold up.

Frank went through his 72 hr. kit and needs to change out the clothes. I need to review mine and see what all is en there. A chore for another day!

Nothing much has happened today. It's not 2:00 PM but I have nothing that I want to do today. I could wash clothes....who knows what will happen (perhaps the Shadow knows?).

Busy But Slow Day

I woke up at 3:00 AM this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. I did a few things in my room and at 5:00 I shut the light off and dozed until 7:45. I've been tired all day.

I got my hair cut today and then went grocery shopping. I forgot the bananas and a large set of visors for the vintage Accord. I'll go out tomorrow to exercise class and while I'm in town I'll pick up my Rx's and the bananas and maybe the visor set.

Had the cancer support group meeting tonight. There were 7 people there counting Lou. We had a nice meeting. I may not need to be exercising using weights with my right arm. I see my oncologist next month and I'll ask about it then.

It got up to 101 degrees today. It's supposed to be 95 degrees tomorrow and a bit more humid. Don't you just love humidity?

Early Morning

We got up at 6:15 AM to get dressed and be ready to leave the house at 7:15 AM for a Dr appointment. We didn't get out of the house at 7:15 but we made it with one minute to spare! The appointment was in Madison. Dad had to have a procedure to get ready for the sling operation. The operation date is in August. After that, he'll see about getting his hips replaced.

We got home around 12:00 PM. I took a short nap and then did the Senior Fitness, "Easy Does It!" It's strength and stretching exercises and they are good. I missed teaching at the Senior Center today because we had the Dr appointment. Jan taught for me and I will teach Wednesday.

I'll get my hair cut tomorrow. The stylist was sick today. That'll give me something to do tomorrow plus buying groceries.

Dad got his drivers license renewed today. Mine run out in a few months. $23.50 is a tax just to drive our cars!

Primary and Father's Day

The Primary children sang for their father's today. They stood in front of the railing instead of in the choir seats. When they sat in the choir seats, no one could see or hear them. I sat in the choir seats so I would already be near the piano when they came up. They sang well and I didn't make any mistakes, so I was happy.

I don't like going to church in the afternoon! All my life I've gone in the morning, so it doesn't seen like Sunday to me. Of course, getting to sleep- in in the morning has its perks. I guess I'll get used to it after the year is over, but I don't like it now.

Quiet Day?

I thought this was going to be a quiet Saturday with nothing going on, BUT WAIT! Dad went downstairs and found that the air conditioning was leaking water again. We found it in time before the water had gone too far. I had to make a trip to Walmart to get some Liquid Plummer and a snake to clean out drains. I found three snakes that I bought and on the way to the car, I remembered the Liquid Plummer! I got my exercise today. I walked back into the store and found the drain opener without much trouble and bought it. (mean while back at the motel...)

Dad finally got the drain unclogged and we cleaned all of the water off of the floor and turned the air conditioner back on. It didn't get too hot in the house. The air conditioner unit is on it's last legs we think, but hopefully it will last a little while longer.

Visit Over

Mary Kate and the kids left from Trudy's house today. We had taken separate cars over to Trudy's so Mary Kate could leave from there and go the back roads home. She was at Boaz when I called her to ask if she wanted me to mail her some papers she had left.

While at Trudy's, Mary Kate and Sophia made a necklace. They had to leave it there with Trudy because the necklaces needed to dry and have the beals put on. We all left when Mary Kate left. Trudy to town and I came home. Dad had been asleep when I left and I wanted to get home to check on him.

While cleaning the bird cages, Dad put new "sheets" on Rosko's nest. He had a new toy and he chewed all of the wooden blocks off of it and left little splinters of wood all in his nest. I never thought he liked to chew that much, but he hadn't had a new toy in a very long time. His nest is a plastic flower pot that fits into his cage. It has a perch secured on the back rim and a hand towel sewn so that it will fit into the nest. He goes into his nest anytime he wants. Sometimes, I look over to see what he's up to and can't see him. I get closer and see his tail sticking straight up. His head is down in the nest and the rest of him is hidden from view. He's an important member of our family.

Thursday, we stayed home and just visited. Grampie and the kids played and watched movies. They are making lots of great memories with their Grampie!

Shopping Day

We left the house around 9:30 AM and went to K Mart to return some shoes that Mary Kate had ordered on-line and then we went to H'ville to Value Village. MK got a pair of pants and I got two skirts. Then we went to Sam's. I was able to get some canned chicken. Five cans in at about $2.00 an can. I make the chicken rotoni salad with it. Then we went to Target, where Sophia found a toy she had been looking for for days. She was very happy. She takes disappointment hard...

We got home around 2:30 PM. The kids started watching a movie on the TV and MK put some clothes in to wash and then crashed on my bed. I cut up and cooked some zucchini and yellow squash I had bought yesterday and had sitting over the air conditioning vent to keep cool for there was no room in the refrigerator for them. We'll have good veggies tonight and tomorrow and....forever!

Family Day

Mary Kate and the kids got here around 10:00 AM. We went to Khole's and bought Mary Kate some summer clothes and ate at Chick Fillet. When we got back too Athens, we went to Walmart and bought some food. I never have anything around for guests to eat.

After supper, we watched two exercise videos and then walked down to feed Danny Boy some food. Corn cobs and watermelon. He didn't like either! We have some apples that don't have any taste and we can feed him some of them the next time we go to see him. Danny Boy is a horse!

Trudy called and said that the jewelry had come in. I need some more paper to cut to fit the pieces of glass. Making this kind of jewelry is fun.

Monday Time

Did fairly well with the exercises today. I did use my notes and got help from Barbara. Jan had to take her mother to a funeral so she wasn't there. We had a nice crowd. Afterward, I went to Karen's for study. We had a nice visit and I came home.

Mary Kate and the kids will be over tomorrow morning. We can go to the grocery store then and buy some food for them. I'll get her to plan a menu so we can have something to eat each day that maybe the kids will eat.

I cleaned the bathroom downstairs. Cleaning the tub was hard to do since I can't lean my knees against the edge of the bath tub. It does look better. I also swept downstairs so I'm already for guests!

It's 94 degrees at 4:30 PM and it got up to 100.8 degrees today! We had a nice spring but it looks like the summer is going to be quite hot!

Day of Rest

Since we don't have church until 1:00 PM, Sunday is a day of rest. I go back to bed and watch some BYU TV until it's time to get cleaned up and then its still restful until I have to leave for church. I'm in the choir and it will begin again in July. It'll be after church at 4:30 PM I think. That will put me home by 6:30-7:00 PM. I wish we could have it somewhere in town instead of staying in Madison and having to drive home late. We must have a choir and we just meet 2-3 times a month. No biggy.

Mary Kate is at Trudy's and will be over here Tuesday. I need to plan some meals so we will, or they will have something to eat. I'll still have my diet food and Dad will have his beans but they will need some good food. Haaahaaaaaaa! They are coming to the wrong place for good food!

I teach the exercise class tomorrow and think I will leave my notes at home. I have to fly solo at some point in time and I think it'll be tomorrow.

Saturday's Here

I just got finished with the strength portion of the Stronger Seniors video. It's good. We use weights and when the one pound weights get too easy for me, I'll go to the 2 pound weights! I started out with the 2 lb weights and hurt my triceps. They were sore for a week! Live and learn...

I made some rotoni chicken salad for Frank. Since I've been on this diet, I haven't been cooking anything different for him and I know he will enjoy it. I've got to buy some more canned chicken. The chicken we got from the Amish is almost gone. I can get come canned chicken or turkey from Sam's. It's not as good, but it can be eaten the the rotoni salad.

Mary Kate called today. She is on her way to Trudy's house. She'll spend time with them and will come visit us Tuesday. Hope they won't be too tired when they get to our house.

Almost the End of the Week

After exercises, I came home. I sat down and made 12 cards. Nothing fancy, just a stamp and some diamonds on the tips of the saying. I put flowers of some of the cards.

I have a friend, Kathy, who I have been friends with for 42 years. During the early years, when I was depressed a lot and wouldn't write to her, she would send me care packages of Avon stuff and it really lifted my spirits. Now, I can return the favor by making her these cards and sending them to her. She is a "card" person and has lovely penmanship. It's a delight to get one of her cards.

We got a lot of vitamins today and I helped Frank put dates on all of them. Then we read the Book of Mormon, and we only have one chapter left and then we're through. We'll begin reading the New Testament next.

No Title-Ha-ha-ha!

I was tired from our H'ville trip yesterday, but I dragged myself out of bed and went shopping at Walmart. Rain is forecast for today and I wanted to avoid it. The store is really going to look good when they get through remolding it and I can find out where everything is again.

It didn't rain on me but we had a thunder storm last night. It will probably rain again tonight. This is great weather for those who have garden and who mow grass for a living! Our grass is in need of a cut again and we had one a few days ago.

Frank was relieved when I told him that friends on face book said that the holly's would grow back.We really didn't want to kill them, just stunt their growth.

I got on Amazon and ordered 2 more exercise videos. I hope they will be good.

H'ville Trip

Went to exercise today. I learned the name of one of the ladies that come all the time. If I do it one name at a time, I might get to know everyone at some point.

Karen came over and we went to the bank and then to Express oil to get the oil changed in the new Accord. They are very nice there. I found out that the air conditioner has a filter that fits behind the glove box. Our was black and had bugs sticking to it, so I had it replaced. The oil filter was clean enough to leave in. Then we went to H'ville to the Dr's office to get the Rx and then on to the Banner store. It was a nice store and had all kinds of flags-American flags, flags to hang in ones garden and the flag poles to hang them on. I'm glad we went, even though I didn't want to buy anything. We stopped by Isom's orchard on the way home and I got some peaches, zucchini, and yellow squash and tomatoes. Karen just got peaches. It was a nice day on the town. It was supposed to rain but it didn't. It stormed tonight while we were reading the scriptures.

Almost Oil Change

I had planned too get the oil changed in my car today but the TV's were on the blink and Frank wanted me to stay home and help him. I cooked some pinto beans and a cabbage. I'll have to cook the beans some more tomorrow. He didn't like the pintos. We usually have the 15 bean variety but I didn't want to walk downstairs to get them and cooked the pintos instead.

I swept the floors and did the cooking and got Gert out for a while. He got a shower tonight and really loved it. In fact, all of the birds got their showers today and all enjoyed them.

After exercise tomorrow, Karen is coming over and we'll get the oil changed and then go to H'ville to get Frank's Rx. There's a banner store I pass every time I'm in H'ville and I want to stop in and see what kind of store it is. There's a 50-50 chance it'll be interesting!

Monday Ritual

I guess it's the same old, same old thing for Mondays. I lead the exercise class today. Everyone seemed to be in good spirits. I'm still using my papers with the exercises on them. Some day I'll have to go without them but not just yet.

Karen and I studied about the Kirkland Temple dedication in the Doctrine and Covenants. It's great having the BYU professors explaining everything and we just watch and follow along in our scriptures. It makes for a good day.

Mary Kate called. She and the kids were back from Heather's and a trip to see Frankie for a day and a night. We talked about everything. Talking makes the miles go faster. Of course, I was trying to take a nap but who needs a nap in the middle of a Monday afternoon!

Tree and Shrub Cutting Time

Mr. Sims and his son came today and trimmed the holly bushes and cut down a dead tree that was falling down by itself. The tree was at the edge of the woods but it needed to be cut down. I'm afraid one of the holly bushes was cut back too much. I don't know if it will ever grow back! The holly bushes are pretty hardy and if this one survives it will be a miracle.

I did laundry and helped Dad vacuum the floors. They need to be mopped but I didn't feel like doing it. I need to find a way to clean them that is easier than my way. If my mop handle wasn't so short, I might not mind it so much.

Luke had his tonsils out two days ago. I called to see about him but I just got Frankie's answering machine. I hope he did well.

Letters

Last night when I was making cards, I wanted my alphabet stamps but I couldn't find them. I called Trudy to see if she had borrowed them but she hadn't, so I decided to go to Hobby Lobby today after exercise to get some more. I had looked on their web site to see if they had any and they did. I can't go in that place and just buy one thing, so I came home with individual sheets of paper for the jewelry making, gifts for Luke, Josh and Mariam. I'll make Kayla and Mariam a necklace. I enjoy sending them packages.

I got home and Frank was getting up. It was a prednesone day so he didn't miss me during the time I was gone. My new and last package of food came in today. I've lost 4 lbs. I could have lost more if I had decided to exercise more, but I refused to do it. I enjoy my exercise videos but I don't want to do anything that will require me to sweat! I enjoyed going to Curves, but that's where I hurt my left knee and I haven't been back since. It's moved from it's old place and I don't even know if it is in town now.

We had an afternoon storm and it filled up the bird bath. That's the way we judge if we got a lot of rain or not!

Thursday, June 3, 2010

Good Day

This was a rest day for me. After going to Gardendale yesterday, I was a bit tired, so I didn't gete up until 8:30 this morning. I did have to go out to the pharmacy to get Dad's Rx's but I came back home and we paid bills.

The house looks so different with the large arborvitae cut back. The front of the house needs some more plants or shrubs now to make it look better. Too bad I can't do anything about it. Maybe in the fall I could get up the energy to plant something. Fall is a better time to plant anyway.

Just watched a two engine plane land. It's front landing gear wasn't locked into place, but the pilot was able to land the plane without injury or fire. Good landing.

Frank is cleaning the bird cages and I must get up and do the water bottles. See you later.

Long Day Wednesday

Got up at 6 AM and we left at 7 AM. I set the odometer and it's 89.9 miles from my house to the temple, one way. We had a nice day.

You know the two large shrubs at the south corners of our house? They're gone now. Lance Sims, the son of the man who cuts our lawn, cut them back for us. They are totally denuded and you can see the house at those corners. I believe they will grow back, slowly, but they won't ever get that big again. They are arborvitaes, if that means anything to anyone. The outside birds loved to roost in them and I miss the noise they would make at dusk as they were settling down for a good night's rest, but the shrub/trees were really overtaking the house. Little did we know years ago when we planted them there that they were going to be monsters! They were given to us as a favor for loaning our bee honey extractor out. We've had quite a relationship with those arborvitaes.

Memorial Day

I learned that the first Memorial Day was a Decoration Day to clean off and decorate the graves of Civil War veterans. Somewhere along the line I had forgotten that.

Trudy and her family came over and we grilled out and had ribs, cole slaw, and baked beans. Oh, and can't forget the brownies! They provided the food and we provided the facilities.

We had a great time. Trudy was able to work on some quilt squares and piece them together on my machine. Her sewing machine is broken at the moment and will have to get fixed for her to quilt. She wants to do good in quilting. I would have given up the second time I had to rip some seams out!

We did remember our troops, now and past ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War, the French and Indian War and the War Between the States (it really wasn't a civil war). We have ancestors who fought for the South and the Union. Frank's brother, who passed away, last year, fought in the Viet Nam War. Frank was in the Navy at that time and put in to be sent to Nam, but he was sent to Key West instead so he could marry me! We appreciate our troops!

Long Waiting Day

When we have a Dr appt. in town, Frank waits in the car and I go in and wait. When his turn comes, I go out and get him and he go into the exam room and lies down. Today at Dr. Walker's office we waited almost 2 1/2 hours! Anyway, he got to see the Dr. and got two prescriptions. Waiting makes you tired! We came home and ate lunch around 2:00 PM and then went to vote. We had never been to this place before, but found it relatively easy. After voting, it was time to come home and fix supper! What a day.

Will be going to the temple tomorrow. I don't look forward to the drive, but I'm tired now and will feel better in the morning.

Trudy called and we figured out what pieces of glass jewelry we wanted to order. It's going to be costly, but it will be fun to do and we'll have plenty of gifts to give away or to keep ourselves!
