Friday

Exercise at the senior center was good today. There were about 12 people there. I decided I would teach Wednesdays too, but not this coming Wednesday because Mary Kate will still be here. The ones who come seem to enjoy the work out and I'm just being selfish in not wanting to wake up early and go teach Wednesdays, too.

I drove over to the Latham's apt and found their building but there weren't any numbers on the building. I guess they were on the doors. I didn't stop because it was early to be visiting, 9:30 AM, so I came on home. I fixed the hamburger mix but I used rotoni instead on beans since Mary Kate and beans don't agree. I used 1/2 of a jar of spaghetti mix that was left over and of course used TVP with the hamburger and two cans of tomatoes. It tasted good.

Around 2 PM, I drove out to Publix to get some 15 bean soup and some other things to have when the children come to visit. I didn't have the beans on my list so I forgot them. I did get a chuck roast that I will put in the crock pot late Saturday night to have ready for Sunday's noon meal. Mary Kate and kids will watch General Conference at their house in GA and then leave for here after the second session is over. We'll get to watch Sunday's Conference together.

Strength Training

I met with Janet today. I was doing bicep curls with 8 lbs of weight and it was about my limit, for now, anyway. We did lots of other moves too. Next week, we'll be back on the Thursday at 2:30 PM schedule. These last two weeks we had to move the exercise to other days because Thursdays are temple nights. I didn't get to go last Thursday because Frank was sick but I look forward to this Thursday night.

Mary Kate is thinking of coming to visit and arriving Sunday morning early enough to watch the 11:00 AM session of General Conference with us. That will be fun. I guess I'll tell the seniors I won't be there Monday but can teach Friday. I don't think I want to teach Wednesdays too. Right now, I'm to greedy with my time.

I'm thinking of going to the Family History Center and taking some genealogy. I know nothing about how things are done now and I'll have to get over my fear of new things on the computer. There are people there to help those how come, so it'll be a matter of me getting my courage up and going.

Monday, Monday

Don't know the rest of that song...Had a good exercise class. I did forget as couple of exercises but the time was filled with the others. I think we had about 7 people. I went to Curves afterwards and then to Walmart. This gets to be a theme, doesn't it?! I needed bananas and I bought some milk and a pair of PJ's. I got a size too small so I had to go back and exchange it. I had to go back into town to pick up Frank's medical records from the hospital so I just went on to Walmart. The next size will really be too large, but they will be plenty roomy!

The Sims are here cutting our yard. I think ours was the only one in the neighborhood that hadn't been cut this year. I want the asparagus bed cut down. The morning glories have taken over the bed and the asparagus can't grow. I'm not interested in taking care of it and the Adam's have been harvesting the asparagus but not taking care of the bed. Don't know if they knew that it would be good for them to do it. I just told them they could have the asparagus that came up. Plus, the bed is on our property and they may not want to take care of something that really belongs to us!

One of our two pear trees had lots of blooms on it. The other one is half dead. Not whole dead, only half.  April 15th is the last day, supposed, for a killing frost in North Alabama, but the weather has been so weird this year that it will probably be May before I can plant anything. I thought about planting Swiss Chard in my little planters, then I realized that the rabbits would probably enjoy that crop. If I could get some fencing around it, I might could keep the little critters away from the Chard.

It's fun to think about it anyway.

Rain Again Today

It was only cloudy the first part of the morning. We did have some thunder storms but not too much rain. The sun was out this afternoon. Mr Sims couldn't get to our yard to cut it this week so I guess it will be done next week.

I slept in and listened to Kim Kamando on the radio. Then got up and changed my sheets and did two small loads of laundry. I cooked some broccoli for lunch.

We called Frankie and Mary Kate and sang "Happy Birthday" to them on their answering machines. Frankie is 42 yrs old and Mary Kate is 37 yrs old. Trudy is 40. Time is moving on. In June, Sadie will be 15 and will be learning how to drive! My babies are growing up!

Wonderful Day

We did get some rain and it washed the pollen off of my car. Dad's car is brown and it shows up more on his car.

I left the senior center at 9:15 AM went by the PO in town and mailed a package and then on the way to H'ville, I stopped by Staples and mailed a box for UPS. After that, I drove to Madison to Kohl's dept store. I originally wanted to get my name on the email list for coupons but while I was there, I just had to do some shopping! I got some cropped pants and some blouses. I got up to check- out and the lady asked if I had a Kohl's charge card and I said no, that I had tried once before and had been turned down. She said to try again and I did and the information went through! I saved 30% on my order which ended up to be $41.00! I left after an hour and drove on into H'ville to JC Penny's. I got some more cropped pants and a blouse. They had moved the petite section and I had to ask where it was.

I was to meet Trudy and Sadie in front of Penny's at 12 noon. Trudy's back is in bad shape and she can barely walk and that's why I did all my shopping before meeting them. We went to lunch at a nice Chinese restaurant and had a nice lunch. I felt good about being able to treat them to a good lunch.  Afterwards, we went back to Penny's to Trudy's car. We took some pictures in the parking lot and got some sweet pictures of the Granny and her family!

Still Sick

Frank has been in bed all day, asleep most of the time. I had an appointment with Janet at 1:30 PM today and Frank didn't wake up until about 12:15 PM and I was getting worried about being able to go. In fact, I had called her to tell her I couldn't come but didn't get her and left a message. She called back and said to come at 2:00 PM and that was a better time for me to go.

We had a good work out. I used 10 lbs on one exercise and maybe 8-9 lbs on another which was hard to complete. I think Janet was glad to find my limit for I had lifted the other lower weights with ease.

I went to Walmart to get some Clorox for all of mine that was opened had gone bad and I needed to bleach some things. Frank needed some Kopectate and some GaterAide and I got a cooked chicken. I stopped by Westside pharmacy and got some more direahrea medicine so I would have plenty on hand. The new Clorox worked great and got the stains out of the clothes. I'll use some on the towels next time. I used some of the old Clorox today but it didn't brighten anything.

With Frank asleep and the birds put to bed it's really quiet in the house. I hope we have some rain tonight. The gold car is covered with gold pollen and looks pretty bad. A good rain would help with that.

Sick, Sick, Sick

It started Sunday night sometime when Frank got the fevers. He woke up with fever. I got him to eat a little bit so he could take his medicine and I left it with him to take. He was sick all Monday and Monday night and Tuesday morning when I went to give him his medicine, I noticed that he hadn't taken his Monday AM pills. They had the prednesone in them. I couldn't get him to take them this morning so I finally gave up and called his Dr. He said to take him to the emergency room. I had to call an ambulance to do that. They came and got him and we got him in the hospital. We were there 4 hours. All of his blood work came back fine and they gave him the prednesone by mouth. When the Dr came in and told us all the tests were fine, he said we could go home. All this happened because he wouldn't or couldn't take the meds I was trying to give him at home. He feels pretty bad now. It's a big jolt to his system when he messes with the prednesone.

While I was in the pharmacy getting the nausea Rx filled, I bought another big ring. It's oval, black with wavy lines on it. It's a fun ring and it fits all sizes. I now have 3 of them.  It was only $4.95-a cheap thrill!

Good Monday

Exercise class went well and I stopped at Walmart and got some more bananas and some clothes. Trudy is going to meet met at Penny's Friday and I'm going to shop for summer clothes and then treat them to lunch.

Frank woke up sick this morning. I got his meds in him and then left for town. He had a milkshake for lunch and then went back to bed and has been in bed all day. I went to Dollar General to get some Tylanol, but I couldn't get him to take any. I also got 4 small planters. I had seen larger planters in another Dollar General but this store only had the small ones. will have to drill holes in the bottoms to let the water drain.

I cleaned off the top of the dresser in the guest room and put the pictures in the flower closet in Trudy's old room. I dusted in the guest room and will have to move a lot of things out of the room when Mary Kate and family comes to visit. It's gotten to be a storage room, too.

I got a new catalog from Gardener's Supply and ordered 4 bags of soil mix for the tomato bag, some fertilizer and a watering tray to sit the tomato bag on. I'm going to a lot of trouble for my tomatoes but it will save a lot of wear and tear on me not to have to lug bags of soil from Walmart. I'll have to get one or two bags to fill my planters but that won't be too bad. I look forward to the growing season.

Saturday

Had a nice sleep in since it was Saturday and I didn't have anything to do. I did wash clothes and sheets and ironed a few blouses. I cleaned or thinned out my closet of winter clothes and took them downstairs to store. I had a somewhat large bag of clothes I can no longer wear that I've collected for the Relief Society or the Salvation Army. There's a Relief Society meeting the same night there's a cancer meeting and I don't know which meeting I'm going to yet.

I need to clean downstairs since Mary Kate and kids are coming to visit the week-end after General Conference. I removed two TV antennas from that room and I'll have to dust. The dresser top is full of junk and I'll clean it off if I can find somewhere to put the junk that's on it. With food storage, I've run out of places to store things. The closet in Trudy's old room may store things. I'll have to clean it up first!

It's in the 80's again today. The air conditioning has been on and sometimes it gets hot in the house.

Slow Friday

I had my exercise class and it went well. Carrielee came for her piano lesson at 10 AM and she had a good lesson. I'm pushing her forward as fast as she can go. I had her playing with both hands out of another book. Both hands on the same note an octave apart. We haven't done any of this in her lesson book yet, but she was able of do it. It's fun to have a student!

I need to take the old Honda back to Big Ten Tires to get the tires rotated. They didn't do it while I was there. I'll go one day next week. Maybe Tuesday for I want to go to Goody's and look for some summer pants and they have 20% off for old people on Tuesdays. Ha-ha, something needs to be done for old people! Getting old is bad enough...

Spring Day

It was 87.6 degrees F today, March 15th. March is supposed to come in like a lion and go out like a lamb, but not this year! I had on blue jeans all day and when I went to exercise with Janet, I got hot.  I came home and went downstairs and got my summer clothes out. But sadly I have gained weight and not too many of last years clothes fit. I'll have to get all new summer digs and go up a size. It makes me want to go out shopping tomorrow and buy, buy, buy! Tomorrow Carrielee comes for her piano lesson. I made some flash cards and then I bought some that look better. I'll let her take home my homemade ones and I'll keep the new ones.

Rain was predicted all day and it finally came at 6:30 PM. We had some thunder and it rained hard for a spell and then it passed on by. The sunset was gorgeous. Frank took some pictures of it. The sky was an orange color and made pretty pictures.

We have had snow in the middle of April, so we may not be out of the woods yet. April 15th is the last day of killing frost, I believe. I saw some nice planters at General Dollar while I was there and I want to get some planters and grow flowers in them. I'll have the tomato plants to take care of and it would be nice to have some pretty flowers to be growing along side of them.

H'ville Dr Visit

It was Frank's time to go to the Pain Clinic today. We ate lunch at Arby's. Frank didn't like what he got. I ate 1/2 of the sandwich and drank my drink plus Frank's drink. We came home and went to the pharmacy. While there, I found two rings I liked and got them. They have stretchy bands and will fit most people. They are fun! I love them and hope to get some more. Just pure old fun.

Last night I met Bubba and Ruth at the Cracker Barrel on Drake Ave in H'ville. We had dinner and then drove to the civic center for the show. I think I wrote about it last night. It was nice and entertaining.

Today I took the '90 Accord to Big 10 Tires to get the tires rotated and the brakes looked at. It seemed that it needed a new brake cylinder or something and they said they could do it today. This was after 1:00 PM and except for a short visit to Dollar General, I was at Big 10, 3 1/2 hours! They finally got it fixed and I came home. Frank had already finished putting the new venetian blinds up and they really look good. They will keep a lot of light from coming in the windows when they are closed.

Vote

We voted at 8 AM and at 9:40 AM I left to go to H'ville to the dentist. I came home and after lunch took a little nap because I was going back to H'ville to meet my brother and sister-in-law to have dinner and take in a show. It was Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance. The young dancers had lots of talent and it was enjoyable to watch them. I got home about 9:45 PM.

Richard Santorum won Mississippi and the Alabama primaries today. We voted for Mit Romney. He's still ahead with the most delegates but he needs to win more states. Obama is spewing out lies left and right. He's going after the young adult vote by saying their student loans will be forgiven. He is such an evil man. He's not a Christian but a muslom and he's Marxist too. He is destroying our country and way of life. I greatly fear he is going to win re-election and our nation will be toast.

Monday Things

Yes, it was Monday and I did the usual Monday things. The senior center was cleaning up after the Poke Salet Review and very few people came to exercise, but as the time to start came around, more people came in. We had about 6 and that is about average. I went to Curves afterwards and on to Walmart. I was out of bananas but ended up spending $153.00 on stuff (that's a lot of bananas!).

After putting away the groceries, I cooked a cabbage and a cauliflower. The birds like both and so do we, so I bought two of each. I also cooked a large pot of hamburger and beans. One container to go in the refrigerator and one to go in the freezer for later.

I'm reading a book I bought last night and it's not that good. I have yet too find a mystery that stands up to Henning Mankills mysteries. I've been spoiled with his works. I'll keep reading, though.

Spaghetti Dinner

We had the neighborhood breakfast at Luvichi's, downtown next to U G White's store. Eight people showed up but the tables they had reserved for us just held 6. We filled the 6 people table up and then when the neighbor who had made the reservations came, there was no room for her and her niece at the table. She was upset about it but the manager dragged another table near ours for her. I doubt that we will go back there to eat. I liked Cracker Barrel pretty well.

Tonight, the youth of the church held a spaghetti dinner and auction and silent auction. It was fun and there were some generous people doing the bidding. One homemade chocolate cake went for $70.00! The money goes toward the Girl's Camp and Boy Scout Camp.

I finished another book today. I also bought two more from Amazon last night. Hopefully they will be good.

Mistake

I did my usual things this Friday morning and got ready to go to the senior center to lead the exercises. When I got there, there were no cars and I remembered that there would be no exercises because the room was set up for the Poke Salet Revival Friday and Saturday nights. I went on to Curves and got to exercise with the 8-9:00 AM people. I usually get there at 9:30 AM and sometimes I'm the only one there. I like it better when there's more people there.

I washed two loads of clothes but didn't do much of anything else. Oh, I did make four cards. I'm afraid I was short on imagination and they don't look all that good. I need to make a bunch more so I'll have some for birthdays.

Tomorrow morning is the neighborhood breakfast and tomorrow night the youth of the church are having a spaghetti dinner and auction to raise funds. I think I'll go. I can make a cake to auction off.

Third Lesson

Carrielee was able to come to her piano lesson today. I had made up some manuscript paper and I showed her how I learned the names of the lines and spaces-treble cleft lines, every good boy does fine; spaces, f-a-c-e. Bass clef lines, good boys do fine always; spaces, all cars eat gas. It won't make sense if one doesn't know anything about music, but I hope it will help her learn the names of the notes. It's fun to have a student.

It has been cloudy all day with rain and storms forecast. I went to Janet's house to work out and I was hoping the rain would hold off until after I got through with the workout. It was just misting as I left. I had to go by the shoe shop with another pair of shoes and it was drizzling when I dropped off the shoes. It didn't really rain hard on the way home. The rain will come tonight, I suppose.

Still Warm Weather

It's going to be in the 70's again today. I went to Curves in short sleeves and was comfortable. It takes me 10 minutes to get to Curves, 30 minutes or more minutes too work out and 10 minutes to get back home. I left the house at 10:00 AM and got back at 11:00 AM.

I called Sophrona about Carrielee's piano lesson being on Wednesday. She came last week on Thursday and that is a better day for me. That leaves Wednesday free to go to Curves. Sophrona was sick with allergies so I talked with Dean. I told him that Thursday was better for me. Hopefully Carrielee will be able to come tomorrow. We got into reading notes on the grand staff. I need to find or make some composition paper so I can tell her how to remember the names of the lines and spaces.

Tuesday

I went to town to pick up Frank's shoes from the shoe shop and go to the bank and stoop by Houston library to pick up some tax forms. The I went to Walmart to get some potassium and a billfold for Frank. They didn't have exactly what he wanted but I got him one made out of the same material as his old one. He doesn't realize that styled change and he's not going to be able to find the exact same wallet like he has.

It got up to 67 degrees F today. We have some rain in the forecast for latter on in the week, I just don't know when. Hopefully we won't have any bad weather.

I was in my bedroom reading when the door bell rang. I heard Frank get it so I kept on reading. I thought it might be a neighbor. It was Josh Mohandessi! He was on his was through and wanted to stop by and say hello. We got to see pictures of his almost one year old daughter and she is a cutie. Josh had had his big truck stolen for three days but he recovered it without any damage. He and his family are living in a suburb of Houston, TX, He really looked and sounded good. I still think of him as the little boy he was when I first met him and the young man he was when I taught him Seminary.

Usual Things

We had 12 at exercise today or 12 people were doing the exercises. It was a good class. The weather was in the 50's and all I needed was a light jacket. It was nice.

I went to Curves after exercise. Pam had her broom standing all by itself. I came home and tried two of my brooms and couldn't get them to stand by themselves! My mojo must not be working...

Frank had the small vacuum out and was attacking some dust in his room today. He's got too much stuff in his room and it always looks like a tornado has hit it. We did have some tornadoes hit last Friday. They missed us and we didn't have any of the bad weather. But it's already started tornado season and it's frightening to think about what's ahead of us. Especially not having a winter and it's March 5 today. Although, it has snowed in April before. We may yet get some bad winter weather.

Fast Mail

I got the tomato kit that I ordered just 2-3 days ago. That was fast. I have an order from FL that I've been waiting for for weeks and it hasn't come in. I guess I will have to call them about it.

I cooked some food for lunch today. You say, "what else would you cook?". Usually we just have left overs but I had some chicken stock that I recovered when I crock potted a chicken-"crock potted?". I had some potatoes that eyes were growing on so I baked 4 of them in the micro wave and diced up three and put them with some chicken and the broth and made a chicken and potato dish. Hopefully, it will taste good. It's something different than we usually have. I had 1/2 loaf of French bread that had a spot of
mold on it and at first I thought I would feed it to the outside birds or other varmints that might eat it, but then I realized I could wipe off the spot of mold and slice it and butter it and bake it in the oven and wow, did it taste good. The mold probably gave it a bit of flavor!

I rode the bike for 20 minutes and lifted some weights and worked on some other exercises this afternoon. Frank has the curtains in the living room pushed back. He says he's going to order some blinds from blinds.com. He wants them to filter all the light out, I think. The dust on the present blinds has crystallized it's been there so long. I don't do blinds!

Storms

It wasn't raining when I left for the senior center, but we had some gully washers while we were exercising! I had brought my small umbrella from the car in with me and I needed it when I left. I had to go by the shoe shop with some of Frank's shoes and the power was off downtown. The street lights were all out. I decided not to go to Curves since the weather was so bad and it really rained on me on the way home. There were ditches were full and running out onto the highway on the way home. Our yard had big puddles in it and so did the neighbor's yards. It stopped raining and the sun may be out, but another cold front is headed our way this afternoon, so we should get some more storms.

There was some damage done to houses in the Eastern part of Limestone Co. Don't know if anyone was hurt or not.

I've ordered a tomato bag and a cage and a tomato kit. We will have home grown tomatoes this year! The bag you just fill with dirt and plant the tomato plant in it. The kit has soil and everything. Plus I got castors to go on the container so I can roll it where ever I want it. I'll probably put it on the sidewalk so it will be close to the house. Don't know where I'll put the bag. It's rather small and won't take up much space. It will be fun to be growing something again.

Thursday

Don't know why I didn't post yesterday.

Carrielee came for her piano lesson today. She had to miss last week's for she was sick. She had practiced ahead and we got to the part of the book where the notes are put on the staff. Once she is familiar with reading the notes on the staff, I can use the other beginning books she has. She's from a really nice family and I enjoy teaching her.

It's been another 70 degrees weather day. Today the sun has been out and the storm that was out last night missed us. We are in line for another weather pattern just like the last one tomorrow night and we are in the "red" zone. The forsythia is in bloom and the Bradford pears are too, and other flowering plants that I don't know the name of, are blooming too. Maybe we won't have any winter weather this year! Am I hoping against all hope?
