Nothing Happening

Today was a slow day. Mon-Wed-Fri are the fast days when I get out of the house and do things. Tue-Thur-Sat are usually slow days. Tomorrow I take Dad to H'ville to the Dr. Maybe I can get him to let me stop by Sam's and get some food bars.

Dad's still trying to adjust the TV's in the house. He's on the phone talking with someone about how to adjust them or something

I don't have much to say tonight.

Got The Picture

We had a large crowd at exercise class today. Afterwards, I went to H'ville to meet Trudy at Michael's. While we were there, I picked up a custom frame order I had. It was a document that advertised trips to Limestone Co., Alabama, for people to buy land. My brother got it at a flea market. The frame and matting really made it look good. It's real quality and my house doesn't have much of that. I bought a picture from my grandson but I don't think I will go with custom framing with it. I hope I can find a frame to fit it and perhaps have it matted.

After Michael's, we went to this up scale consignment store down on Air Port Rd. They mostly had strapless and bare dresses with spaghetti straps. I'm too old for that store.

We ate lunch at Chick Fele and got happy meals with chicken nuggets and a toy which we turned in for a small ice cream cone. We then went to this small store that sold batteries and got a new battery for my cell phone. The phone would go dead in my purse even when it was turned off. Hopefully, this new battery will help that.

We went back to Trudy's van and I transferred some venison I had in a cooler. Then, we walked to Shoe Carnival and looked for boots. I want a pair of leather boots with a flat heel. They didn't have any but we tried on some tennis shoes and had fun.

I was headed home by 2:00 PM and I had to stop by Walmart and pick up a few things. I was glad to get home when I finally did!

Sunday Morning

I have a lot of time on Sunday mornings since I don't head for church until 12:00 PM. After breakfast, I went back to sleep. Got up and put my make-up on. If I get dresses too early, then I'm pacing the floors waiting for the time to leave, so I stay in my PJ's until 11:30.

I have a new blouse to wear and it happens to go with an old skirt I have. I like it when that works out. It's a plumb color. I have another new blouse that's a bright aquamarine color and it matches a skirt I have too.

Trudy and I are meeting Monday morning at 10:00. We'll eat lunch in town. Frank wants me too get something at Costco for him and I would like to go to Sam's and get some more protein bars. It will be a fun day!

Tired

I got in from the temple trip at 11:30 PM. I forgot to set the alarm for 7 AM because I wanted to go to the exercise class but I awoke at 7:00 anyway. After exercise, I came home and lay down and took a nap. Got up at 12:30 PM and fixed lunch and lay back down after lunch and napped again!

It was a nice trip. Beside Ken and Karen, Brent and Christy and I filled the van. I think the van will hold 6. Brent and Christy haven't been married for very long and it's fun watching them!

Not To Hot

I believe the weather is moderating a bit. It didn't get to 90 degrees today and it's cooling into the 60's at night. It's the middle of August and it should be happening and I'm glad it is!

Bought groceries today. I'm still eating cabbage and cauliflower and buy two of each so I won't run out and then have to go to Walmart just for the veggies. Got some fat free (almost) hot dogs. They don't taste as good as the fat ones but it gives me some sort of meat to eat.

We go see Dr. Walker tomorrow morning. Frank will ask about how to treat bursitis and get a refural to see Dr Patel for a colon check. Can't spell the big word for it!

Tomorrow is temple night.

Luke's Blog

Rachel created a blog for Luke's art work. He's really good and I'm so proud of him.

I didn't do anything today but it was a good day. I read some magazines I hadn't been reading and enjoyed that. Frank says he's still getting better. My knees are getting better even after a year of having them replaced. I really have nothing more to say!

Vet Day

I led the exercise class today and afterward, I took some merchandise back to Hibbits and Walmart. I got a package of briefs for Dad. They were all dark colors, no whites.

We had our plans on how to get Gert into the travel cage. We had to act extremely natural to keep him from knowing that we were going to put him into the cage. It worked and we got Gert in and then we got Rikki and Rosko also. Then I traveled to Hartselle to the Vet. I had to wait 30 minutes to see Dr Jan but she spent almost an hour with me and the birds. They all had gram stains and they were all good, and they all had their nails and wings trimmed. The thought of the trip and all it entailed got on my nerves today. I'm glad it's over with.

Michael's called and said my custom framing was done. I'll meet Trudy there next Monday and I will pick it up then.

Saturday Activities

We had a surprise thunderstorm today. It rained pretty good. Don't know how much got into the bird bath, though.

Just had the usual Saturday chores to do-vacuuming the floors. We put the foam topper on Dad's living room bed. He liked it when it was on my bed, but it may make his back hurt since his feet and head are elevated. We can take if off tomorrow and put it downstairs if he doesn't want it. I wonder if Sadie would like it.

Fat Butterflies

I know we have the fattest butterflies around. They are little pigs on the butterfly plant. Big ones, little ones, every size ones! It's as joy to watch them slurping the nectar up.

Frank had x-rays at the Dr today and his hips are fine. He thought because of the pain he's been having with his hips, that they might need replacing but they are okay.

We travel in the vintage Accord (20 yrs old) when we go to the Dr. So far the air conditioner, the auto windows and the cruise control all work fine. When the air conditioner goes, we'll get another car!

Another Hot Day

I had to get out after lunch and buy some groceries and it was hot. I fought off the idea of getting a large Coke Icee but it would have tasted yummy today.

I bought two cabbages and two cauliflowers. I cooked one of both and will have the others after I eat these. I eat veggies twice a day. I didn't have any protein so I ate a hot dog with my veggies.

Frank had a really bad day today. They flooded his body with prednesone for the operation and now he has to figure out how much to take in order to taper down. We see Dr Alexander about the hip replacements tomorrow and if an operation is impending, there'll be more drug in the future.

Bro. Bob Hill and Brent Decker came over today and took the mattress off my bed and took it downstairs and brought the new mattress up and put it on my bed. I'll sleep on it for the first time tonight. Trudy and George love their Sleep Science mattress and it has a 20 year warranty on it, which is more than most spring mattresses have. Trudy said she would pick up the old mattress and give it to Bob, George's dad.

Temple

We left at 7 AM and the forecast was for rain, but the farther South we got, the clouds disappeared. At 1 PM when we were coming home it got cloudy again. When we got to my house, it began to rain some. Hopefully, it will rain tonight.

The grass got mowed while I was gone. Frank had Steve lop off the top of my large Crepe Myrtle tree because some wires were in the tree. It still has some blooms on the West side of it but it's really ruined as far as looks are concerned. This won't happen next year! The wires are safe in the bush, especially since it was new growth.

Rest Day

I went back to bed today and got up late. It was a bad day for Frank and he didn't get up until lunch. I didn't do much today, but I felt good. Getting all my feeling out in the open and shinning the light of day on them helped the bad feeling go away.

Tomorrow is temple day. My check engine light is on in my car so Karen is going to drive. I drove one evening for her so she said she would drive tomorrow. It'll be good to get back to the temple.

Trudy is helping with the Walker's and loving the service she is giving. That's the way it goes-you do good things and you feel good about it.

Storms Missed Us

The weather blew up this afternoon but we didn't have a storm or rain. It did lightening some. We had to reset our TV's. Don't know if it was from the weather or not.

I woke up at 4:00 AM and couldn't go back to sleep. I started thinking about Forrest and what he's been doing on Face Book. I got up and wrote him a two page letter admonishing him to be careful. I hope he still wants me to be his Granny after he reads it.

We were at Dr Morgan's office at 8:30 this morning. Dad got the catheter out but is still really sore and swollen. After lunch, I took a nap to make up for my lack of sleep. Didn't do much of anything after lunch...oh, I did two loads of laundry...whoopie!

Song Over

I left Primary at 1:45 PM and went upstairs to the Young Women's room to go over the song they were singing in Sacrament today. I've had a bad case of nerves with this song. It was easy enough, it's just that I don't have much confidence in my playing anymore. I don't practice but once a week and that isn't enough. Anyway, the song went well at performance, and it's over. Usually, April plays for the YW but she wasn't there today. Everything at church went well. Stacey and Brent and Christy were in the van when they picked me up. It was good seeing all of them again. Well, I just met Christy but I felt I knew her. She's Brent's new wife. They all were going to BYU Idaho and are home for semester break and don't have to go back to school until January.

Tomorrow, Frank sees Dr. Morgan. Wednesday, is a temple trip and Friday Frank sees Dr. Alexander about his hip replacement. I will teach the exercise class Friday since I can't be there Monday or Wednesday.

Early Bird

I got up at 7 AM to shower and wash my hair and sweep the floors to get ready for guests. Got Dad's extra large beach towels washed. He thought I couldn't wash all the towels together because of the colors, but I did and the colors didn't run.

Ruth and Beverly and Beverly three boys came at 9:30 AM. The boys admired the birds, we talked a bit and then went outside. I told Beverly she could have the swing set for free. I want to get rid of the swing set and chair swing. Grieg may think it's too far to come to get it.

I'm to play the piano for the Young Women tomorrow at church. The song is easy enough, but I am nervous about it. After I play for Primary, I have to go upstairs to the
YW room and practice with the girls. Then I'll have to come right back to the Primary room, to play the piano for the younger group. It should be a wild Sunday. Things will be alright if the girls don't sing the song too fast.

Rest

I slept in this morning since I had gotten up very early yesterday and had a busy day. Frank is getting around well today and there is less pain.

I went to Walmart to get Kayla a gift. I had gotten Mariam and Josh some things but they were too young for Kayla. I got her a tiny train case with a mirror and I included a nail kit and some finger nail stuff too. I packaged up the two boxes and will mail them tomorrow. I have to box up Sophia and Nate's stuff too. Maybe I'll do it tomorrow.

Ruth called and said she and Beverly would come by for a short visit tomorrow around 9:30 or 10:00. They were going to the discount grocery place that's on the way to town. She didn't want to be so close and not visit. She said she had some purple hull peas for us. Yum!

Success

We got up at 4:30 this morning and got ready to get to the hospital by 5:44. They took Frank back about 7:30 for the surgery. I stayed in the room and read. It was cold in the hospital. It got up to 103 degrees today but I was cold this morning at the hospital. I got hungry and got some hot chocolate and two cup cakes from the vending machines. Gaggy sweet and only 1/2 a cup of chocolate but it keep the greedy worm away. I then moved to the waiting room to wait and it was warmer in there. It was about 9:30 when Dr. Morgan came and said that all had gone well. It wasn't much longer until Frank was back in his room. He felt like going home by 10:30 and we were on our way home. He goes back to see Dr. Morgan Monday. Hopefully the operation will be a success.

I felt dragged out this afternoon and then realized the time I got up. I had to go back into town to the pharmacy for Frank but I got a little nap in before that. I'm ready to call it quits for today.

Banana Time

I enjoyed exercise today and afterwards I went to Wally World. I needed some more bananas. I got a set of sheets for my bed and a fitted sheet for Frank's bed. His sheet wasn't all cotton but he has so many beach towels on top of the sheets, that it won't make any difference. I don't know why I got a set for my bed other than they were only $12.00 and they were pretty.

I finally got around to organizing 2009's monthly billing statements. I had put it off forever and the spirit just moved me to do it today. Now, to find a place for them! I know, there are lots of empty drawers downstairs and I'll put them down there. Won't tell Dad, will just do it!

We gave the birds a bath today. They all welcomed the chance to get under the spray. I got an appointment to get their nails and wings trimmed for August 23rd. This time, I'll get Gertie into his carrier before he know what's happened to him. Last trip to the vet, he wouldn't get out of his cage and missed the trip.

We have to be at the hospital at 5:45 AM tomorrow for Frank's sling surgery. He'll be there all day.

My new Sleep Science mattress came today! We carried it downstairs to "air out" before we put it on my bed. I don't think the smell would bother me, but it would Frank. I'll have to call Trudy and get a time when she can come and pick up my other mattress. Sadie will use it and I hope they'll take the topper too.

Bird Food

We opened two sack of bird pellets today and put them into Zip Loc bags. Double bags in fact, and put them in the freezer. The birds fave enough food for a while now. Dad is changing the cages now and Rikki usually sits on her stand by Dad's bed, but I've been getting her and letting her sit on my shoulder. I didn't know how she would react to me being at the computer, but so far she is just sitting there making little noises every now and then. She'll get bored soon.

I've felt better today. Can't afford to forget my night meds anymore.

Today was a good day for Frank but his spine is hurting him. It probably hurts every day but it really hurts when he stands up a lot.

Rachel is getting ready for her day care. She got some furniture from Mary Kate. Frankie sent us two videos of the house and the back yard. I don't know how many children she can fit into the center for it is really full of toys and materials! She should have fun doing it.

H'ville

I went to exercise and led it and at 9:15 AM I drove to H'ville. I had time so I stopped by Michael's. I bought the grandkids all kinds of presents. Most were on sale but I had a basket full. Then I went to this dress store, the Dress Barn. I had never been in it and I wanted to look for some new Sunday clothes. They had nice stuff. I bought a grey gored skirt and a turquoise sweater. I didn't have time to shop more for I had a Dr appointment at 11:40 so I had to leave. When I was going home, I stopped by there again and got three blouses. One blouse will go with a skirt I already have and I got a black pull over that had black and white trim on the collar and sleeves. I thought it was cute. One blouse will have to be pinned for it goes too low in the front. Maybe I can get Karen to sew a snap on it for me. I can't handle really small things with my hands anymore. Maybe Velcro will do.

Dr Sharp didn't have any clue as to why I have a blank mind all the time. He told me to read and to get out more and get more variety in my life. Sounds good, but a bit hard to do. I will make myself read every day and I should use my recumbent bike more. Exercise would help....naugh!

Yesterday, Forrest turned 16 ! They were gone when I tried to call him to wish him happy birthday.

Not So Hot

The forecast was for showers after midnight tonight and hopefully it will come true. It was only in the low 90's today and it felt good. Not so much humidity, I think.

I didn't go to exercise this morning and slept in. It felt good. I did have to go out to Walmart and get some bananas and a few other things. I bought some steak and it was tough, so when Trudy and the children come over, I'll have to flour it and slow cook it on the stove so it will be fit to eat.

We worked on getting the boxes and fixings from the TV cleaned up today. Frank is in a lot of pain tonight from working so hard on the project. Hopefully, tomorrow won't be a bad day.

Wednesday, August 4, 2010

Heat Wave

It got up to 103 degrees today. We were out in it and it was bad. We had Dr appointments in H'ville and had to go in and out of the air conditioning and into the heat. Not fun. At 4:00 PM, it was down to 100 degrees. I heard it should get down to 77 degrees tonight! If we can just live through August, it should start to cool down.

Trudy, Forrest and Sadie will be coming over tomorrow to spend the day and night with us. Forrest can help Grampie with the installation of the TV and the rest of us will finish shopping for Sadie.

The power bill was double this month and probably be next month too. The heat pump runs year round, either cooling or heating. I sure hope Cap and Trade doesn't get passed for our electricity bill will really go up.

Tuesday, August 3, 2010

Still Very Hot

It's still very hot outside. This morning I went to get my driver's license renewed only to find out I was a year too early! It expires in 2011! Everyone got a chuckle out of that. Then I went to H'ville to take the document I'm having framed to Michael's. I bought a few little things for the next box I'll send to Frankie's kids. I should send a box to Mary Kate's children too.

I was on my way home when I remembered I wanted to stop by Costco, so I turned around and went back. The traffic was bad. It was the lunch hour and everyone was out. Costco didn't have a twin foam mattress like I wanted but the man who helped me said I could order one online and I did. Trudy and George like their mattress and the man who helped me said he and his wife liked theirs, so it comes recommended. Sadie will get my mattress and form topper.

Monday, August 2, 2010

Warm Day

It got up to 97.1 today with no rain in sight. It's been so hot that even the newspaper mentioned it. We've had enough moisture that the grass needs mowing again. Our burn pile is pretty large and Frank asked the Adams if they would help us burn it. Bobby said too wait until it cooled down a bit to burn it!

I cooked a pot of beans today. I added a cup of extra water to the pot since I almost burned them last time I cooked them. It's hard to watch a pot that has to cook about 3 hours. I always get sleepy and that's the way I burned the beans was when I took a nap. I've got a way to sit on the couch and kind of vegge out and pass time but still be aware of things going on. It's almost as good as a real nap!

Karen and Ken left to meet their children in Illinois today. They'll bring Stacey home for the fall semester. Brent and Christy will go to Kentucky to visit her folks and then spend the rest of the time here. They'll go back to school in January, I think.
