Saturday Night #3

I didn't expect to go out today so I didn't put any make-up on and was dressed in tacky clothes all day. While I was in the kitchen, I noticed a call on the phone. Karen had called and asked if wanted to go to the Stake center for the adult session of Stake conference. I called back to say I didn't feel well and would probably not go, but she called back before she listened to my message and I said I would go. She and Mary Lou and I rode over to the Stake center and Ken and Bob were already there. It was a nice meeting. Stake conference will be piped into our Ward building tomorrow and it will nice to not have to go back to H'ville again. The meeting will be from 10:00-12:00 PM.

Went To Huntsville

I met Trudy at Hobby Lobby and we shopped. Everything, most everything, was on %50 off. Now, I'll be running out of room if I don't use the embellishments soon. I got a booklet about doodling which will add to my cards.

We spent about an hour shopping and then since Trudy and the kids were driving to Mary Kate's house today, we didn't have time to go to Trudy's house and make cards. We went to Alabama Bakery and had a bowl of soup with tough white bread and a pastry for dessert. It was a pleasant lunch. After lunch, we parted ways and I came home. I had stopped by Staples on the way out and bought a big box of paper for the printers. We had to open the box in the trunk of the car and carry the paper in plastic sacks, for it was too heavy for us to pick the box up.

The Week Is Flying By

I cooked this morning. I had made beef stew two days before but Frank wanted some beans so I cooked beans yesterday and today I cooked broccoli and cauliflower and made some Rotini salad with chicken in it. We now have plenty of food fixed. I enjoyed the cooking.

I swept downstairs where the organ used to be and cleaned off some of the stuff that was on the dresser under the stairs. Trudy wants that dresser and I'm going to use that space for some more storage things I have.

I'm going to meet Trudy at Hobby Lobby in the morning and after we look over the store, we're going to her house to make cards. She and the kids are going to Mary Kate's house tomorrow for the week-end and will have lots of fun. Trudy talked to Frankie and things are going well for him.

Trunk or Treat

I went this morning to church to decorate for Trunk or Treat tonight. We decorated the Primary rooms,(4) where the games will be. The Relief Society will have musical chairs and Primary will have Go Fish, Putting a Skeleton Together, Bean Bag Toss, and Pin the Eye on the Monster. I don't know what other games there will be. I am wearing jeans, shirt and a hat with gray hair hanging out the sides. The wig wouldn't stay on without the hat. I pinned a rose on the top of the hat and I have a pumpkin necklace that lights up and I have pumpkin earrings. It should be fun. The kids won't know who I am because I can't be seen when I'm sitting at the piano!

I ordered from Emergency Essentials today.

Light Rain

It rained lightly all day today. I cleaned the basement so the organ could go out and cooked beef stew from scratch. It turned out good. The meat was tender and the veggies were all cooked, a nice meal even if I do say so myself!

Frank has been sick all day. He seems to feel like tomorrow will be a bad day also. I had a cancer meeting to go to tonight but I called and told Lou that I wouldn't be attending. It's sad to see him so sick and feeling bad.

I'll go to H'ville early in the morning-8:00 AM- and pick up his Rx and then get back home in time to help decorate the Primary room for the Trunk or Treat tomorrow night. Having no children, I wouldn't be going, but I need to help support the Primary presidency and it'll be fun. Friday, I'm going to Trudy's house to make cards. It's always fun to visit there.

I Can't Believe It's Monday Again!

Wow! Time is surely flying...whether you're having a good time or not. .

Didn't go to exercise today. I didn't want to wake up at 7 AM and spend 15 minutes putting my make-up on, and 15 min. to get dressed and 15 min. to eat breakfast and then 15 min. to get to the Senior Center.

We had our scripture study today. We covered Sections 63-65. Afterwards we talked. Then, I went to Walmart for groceries. I was able to get Frank 4 more T-shirts like he likes, an umbrella for the old Honda and the cost of some telephones. Plus a bit of food.

Rode Alone

Karen had an 8:15 AM meeting and I didn't want to go to church that early, so I drove myself. Primary went well.

The Sweeny's might take the organ. They are across the street neighbors. Frank found a price tag on the back of the organ that said $2400.00 back in the 50's, I think. I didn't want to sell it, I just wanted to get rid of it so we could have the room downstairs. We'll have to move a lot of things in order to be able to move it through the back door. Where there's a will, there's a way!

Happy Fun Day

I left for Eva, AL at 7:00 AM. It takes under an hour to get there. After I got to my brother's house, Ruth and I then got into her car and we drove to Wallace State, a small Junior College near Cullman. It was a cooking school. They gave everyone a goodie bag with all sorts of things in it, and it had two magazines with recipes. We would turn to a page and the cook would cook that recipe. It was pretty neat. The auditorium was full. There were door prizes and even the food was given away as prizes. After that, we went to this little seafood restaurant and had catfish files and cole slaw and a baked potato. It was very good and very fresh. After that, we went to this big Catholic church-retreat. I've forgotten the name of it but Sis Angelica lives there. I bought a 24" stainless steal necklace (nothing on the necklace). About all of my necklaces are 17" and are a tad too long, so in my little, demented mind, I thought a 24" necklace would be shorter!!! The wheels in my brain are barely moving and are grinding to a halt even as I speak. I left for home after we got back to Ruth's house. My brother had been arranging his books on his book case.

Slow and Easy Day

I went to exercise today. It was rainy and only about 12 people were there. I was glad to be up and to be out. I came home after exercise. I need to cook some more Rotini salad today. Tomorrow, I'm going with Ruth to Wallace State for some sort of a cooking school taste off. She would laugh at my description of it. I should be back in the afternoon.

It's in the 70's now and is supposed to in the 50's tomorrow. It still warms up in the afternoon.
The birds and Dad are chirping now. The bird's started first. It's getting close to the time he usually cleans their cages and they get excited for he sings to them. Most would not call it singing, but the birds love it.

VT Day Was Successful

I met All at the church at 10:00 AM and we went to Sis Knowles house first, then to the Decker's and then we found Sis Ford and right down from her we found our last sister! We saw all four of our sisters and that makes us 100% for October! Hopefully it will be as easy next month.

I got home at 2:00 PM and was ready for lunch! This was the second day I didn't eat lunch at the right time in two days. The rotini salad was good and now I can buy more canned chicken from Sam's. Before I learned about this salad, I didn't know how to use the canned chicken.

Ruth White, my sister-in-law called and I will go with her to Wallace State on Saturday for a cooking taste off. That's not the real name of it, but I don't remember what she said. It sounded like fun.

Out Most Of The Day

I went to exercise class then came home and at 10:30 AM Karen came by and picked me up and we went to Jan Latham's to pick up the Primary secretary's materials and then on to the church to clean out the Primary closet. She had to know how many complete lessons manuals were in the closet. We had to count picture packets that went with the manuals. I put a complete picture packet into sleeve protectors. We were there a good three hours. It was fun.

Frank had found a package of whole wheat egg noodles and I cooked the entire package tonight. I served them with cream of mushroom soup. I really don't like noodles but since I have quite a bit left, I'll make a tuna casserole with them.

Going VT with my new partner tomorrow at 10:00 AM. I'm looking forward to meeting Ann and hope we can find the sisters she couldn't contact. We'll see Sis. Decker and Pat Knowles for sure.

Fireside Night

There was frost on the car windshield again but I didn't have to get out to go anywhere. I washed two loads-should have been three for I crammed in another set of sheets. I hope they all got clean.

Frank's feet and spine are hurting him today. It was supposed to be a good day today.

I'll be going to the church fireside at 6:00 PM. I hope it will be good. You get out of it what you take with you, so hopefully, I'm prepared!

Mild Monday

The sun came out today but there was frost on the windshield at 8:00 AM when I went out to go to exercise. I left town and drove to Karen's for our scripture study. It was nice, but I wasn't prepared as I could have been. I've found the Institute manual and can now have some helps when I read the sections.

Trudy has had some problems with her lap top and has a friend coming over tonight to transfer the information onto another hard drive. Ho, ho, I don't know anything about what I just said!

Thanksgiving will be at Trudy's so I can be there. I hope Frankie and his family will be able to be there too.

Dad had a bad day today. Tomorrow will be better. Tomorrow night there is a fireside in H'ville with a General Authority. I'm going to go and hope it will be very spiritual.

Black Sunday

Things went well at church. It was right cold this morning! I guess it's to be expected since it's the middle of October. The leaves on the trees are starting to turn and when it gets all pretty, then come the rains and washes all the leaves away. Ah, such is life...

We're trying to get three more shelves for the basement. We still have the organ and I don't really know how to get rid of it. I've been playing it and enjoying it but it takes up so much room where it is.

Going to exercise class tomorrow then over to a friend's house to study the Doctrine and Covenants. We we were doing it before but then had to quit because I had my knee operations. That took all the summer to recover but now I'm ready to begin again.

Saturday Night And I Ain't Got No Money...

Got to listen to Kim Kamando this morning. A football game must have started in the afternoon, for usually the ball game pushes Kim out of the spot.

I did the usual things for a Saturday, washed a load of clothes, folded towels, and put everything away. Tonight I addressed 10 Halloween cards, 8 for the grandchildren. I included $2.00 plus a recent picture of me and Frank. We don't get to see Frankie's children much and I didn't want them to forget about us. I also sent a couple of cards to friends.

It was coat weather today. I just went out to the mail box but I wore my coat for it was cold.

Bad News

April can't get the organ! Since she's living with her parents, her Dad said that he didn't want the basement cluttered up. Oh, well.

I went to exercise this morning. I was glad to get back. I'll really have to remember what day of the week it is so I won't miss any days.

It's been another gloomy day today. Rain is forecast again, I think. It will be nice to get some sunshine again.

I made a card from a pattern that I had made when I was going to the card class. It turned out pretty fair.

My VT partner and I have never met. We've been e-mailing. I suggested going next Tuesday. Maybe meeting at the church since she has a Tanner address. I got her to call and I will give the lesson.

Trash Day Always

That means it's Thursday. I went grocery shopping at 2:00 PM and Frank already had the garbage collected and I just put it in the can and rolled it to the edge of the sidewalk where Bobby Adams picks it up. I didn't get a lot of food but it still cost over $100.00 dollars! Everything has gone up. No telling what the future will bring.

I'll try and go to exercise tomorrow. I've been forgetting what day of the week it is and I miss going.

I have a new VT partner, Ann Rudy. I don't know her yet, but she sent me an e-mail and she sounds like a good partner. I hope she is more of a go-getter that I am or we'll be in trouble. We have four sisters to visit and I know two of them. It'll be fun to get to know the other two.

Wednesday Already?

I didn't do anything this morning but at 1:00 PM I went over to Karen's house to help hem up the skirt she'll be wearing for her son's wedding. We sat and talked and then went out to see the animals. There was a 2 month old colt that was new. It came up to about mid thigh on me-these are miniature horses. The chickens had a new coup but all the rain still made the ground pretty muddy. We walked on down were there were more chickens, too small to be put into the larger pens with the older chickens. There was this cute little black rooster with feathers on his legs and what looked like a bobbed tail. Every time one of the larger roosters would crow, this little black rooster would crow back too. It was nice hearing them! It was after 4:00 before I got home.

During supper, we watched Glen Beck and had the birds out and then put them to bed. Since we missed the postman today I have to go into town and mail some letters and buy a few groceries.
I need to pick out a time to take the car to the dealership to get the odor out of it. Karen said she would take me to do this.

Relief Society Night

Relief Society was nice tonight. We all met in the RS room first and had a spiritual message and then played a bingo game to get the sisters to mingle and get to know each other. I just sat in my chair because I don't like those kind of games!

Next we went into the cultural hall where the food and tables were set up for the talents. There were three of us who made cards. Amy Boston brought some of her pictures and there were art pictures and Karen had 4 of her dolls dressed in fall and Halloween costumes. The food was light refreshments and was nice. We got home around 9:00 PM. It's been raining all day and night.

Monday Again

I didn't do much this morning but after lunch I drove into town and checked out the new store that took over the old Goodies store. It's called Burke's Outlet Store. The clothes are not as good quality as Goodies was. It's more like the Ross store in H'ville (I think). There were plenty of people there buying things. You could get a shirt or skirt or jacket for $7.99. It has a Petite section and that's where I would shop.

For supper tonight, we had the freeze dried food I had ordered to sample. It was good and in an emergency, it would be tasty food. You need boiling water so it wouldn't be as convenient as the MRE's would be.

Tomorrow night, R.S. enrichment night, they are going to have tables set up to display the various talents of the sisters. Karen is going to take one or some of her dolls and doll clothes to display and I'm taking my hand made cards. It should be a great evening.

Sunday Evening

We went to church and it wasn't as cool as I thought it was going to be. It was testimony meeting which I had forgotten, but it was good. Primary went well. Sis Wright was the chorister and she did a good job. I need to practice the piano some each week and must discipline myself to do it. It was fun having Sophia, Nate and Mary Kate in Primary with me.

After church,we talked and some went to the computer and some watched BYU TV and some took a nap. I just sat on the couch with my eyes closed and rested that way. Before supper, Mary Kate and the kids and I walked down to feed Danny Boy some apples and walked a little farther and looked at the alpacas.

Dad gave Richard a computer monitor and Richard also took the two old air filters that we were going to dispose of. They left around 6:15 PM.

A Day of Shopping

We left for H'ville at 9 AM and headed for Sam's of look for some shelves for downstairs. They didn't have any but Costco's will have some shelves like we like on sale on a couple of weeks.

Trudy met us at Shoe Carnival. I had to take back a pair of shoes I got for Frank and he didn't like. Mary Kate bought Sophia a pair of boots. We made a quick pass in Michael's but didn't buy anything. Next we went to the Mall so I could check the sleep number beds.

I got to find my sleep number and decided on what kind of topping I liked and got a price on a twin bed. I have a few days to get it at the sale price. I really want it and feel it would help me with my back. They would bring it and set it up and take away my old bed. I can have 30 days to try it out to see if I like it.

We went to Kohl's to check out some sales. Mary Kate bought the children a wrap since it has turned cold here. And it will be cold at church too.

Family Coming

I made the chicken rotini and baked the chocolate cake and frosted it while talking on the phone to Trudy. I washed a load of clothes, filled my pill bottles and now am taking a rest! Oh, I vacuumed the floors also. I like to be busy and want to do the work. It's bad to have lots of things to do and not want to do anything.

Frank has felt bad all day. He's doing the birds now and singing (caterwauling). It helps him bear the pain.

Obama got the Nobel Peace Award today. It makes me sick. He is such a fraud. He makes me sick. We don't watch the news anymore. We enjoy re-runs of Cops! Can't watch much of that channel for it is far to crude to watch.

April Came

April came over to look at the organ and she likes it. I've had fun playing around with it and playing hymns. She said she could get her dad and perhaps the missionaries to come over to help. There is a lot of "stuff" that has to be moved on order to get the organ out the back door. We hope to buy some metal shelves to put in the organ's place. Maybe we can get things organized then.

I didn't go anywhere today. After I met with April, I washed my bedspread and then the one that was on the downstairs bed. I'll wash some more tomorrow. I need to make the rotini and bake the cake. Since Richard isn't coming, I won't worry about the meals.

I made several cards today. I can't stop using flowers as decorations. I'm getting quite a few cards ahead now and I'm glad.

Work Day #2

I went to Walmart to buy some new sheets for the guest room bed. All I had were left overs from when the children were at home and they didn't look so good and I wanted to have the room looking good for when Mary Kate and her family come this week-end.

The choice of colors wasn't too good and I ended up with medium blue sheets. When I was putting them on the bed I realized that the sheets were of two different colors-both blue but one a tad darker than the other! Oh, well. The bed is made up and a new bedspread on it. I cleaned the bathroom and swept the floors. I will still have some washing to do tomorrow. My bedspread and the one I took off downstairs need washing.

I bought a frozen lasagna for the week-end and I can make my chicken and rotini dish and I have a chocolate cake to bake and we can always go to the grocery store for more. I look forward to the visit.

I'm interested in getting a Sleep Number bed and I'll get Mary Kate to go to H'ville with me. Maybe Richard will want to go too. There's lots to find out about those beds and I don't know much right now.

No Trip Today

I was dressed and ready to go but the temple trip was canceled. Karen had e-mailed me at 11:45 PM telling me about it but I don't usually get on the computer until the evening so I missed the message.

I made some pretty cards today. I need to get into my storage closet where I keep my flowers and see if I have any small, green leaves. I had some small pansies I put on a card and put three small green leaves with the pansies and all of this was on a pale green card and I stamped a message on it and it turned out pretty good. I made a card with a bunch of different colored smiley faces on it. I penned "ha-ha-ha, hee-hee-hee and ho-ho-ho!" on the card. I'll send it to one of the grandchildren.

Banking and Grocery Shoping

I went to Walmart to get a few things on my list but since it didn't contain any food I strolled around and put food in my basket. I bought a new thermometer, one that you slide over the forehead to get the temperature. It cost $34.00. I was amazed at the cost of everything I bought! I didn't buy any make up or clothes and everything cost over $200.00! I have to leave some money for this week-end when Mary Kate and her family come.

I made about 3-4 cards today. I think they look good. I'll have to wait until Trudy and Mary Kate see them and tell me what they think.

Conference Continued

I woke up at 3:00 AM and couldn't go back to sleep so I got on the computer and looked up high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Not for me for I take medicine for my cholesterol and I have low blood pressure. It was for Frank. He thinks the high blood pressure medicine he was trying brought on the fevers he had last week. He's now breaking out in fever blisters in his nose, mouth and lips. His disease is not a nice one to have. He has a form of juvenile arthritis and he runs high fevers when his dose of predsone becomes upset. Then he gets the fever blisters.

Conference has been good, it's just hard to sit for two hours. Being at home watching it on TV, one has the advantage of being able to get up and go to the kitchen and bathroom and not miss much.
It's almost 3 PM and the last secession is about to start so I'll stop.

Saturday, October 3, 2009

Conference Saturday

I love to go back to bed after breakfast and listen to the radio and snooze some more but I got up at 8:00 AM because I had gone to bed late so I was in bed when Conference come on TV. After listening to President Monson's talk, I realized I should get up and get dressed and get serious about listening to the speakers. So I did. Later, Frank got up and we watched it together.

Got a temple trip planned for Tuesday. I'll get picked up at 3:45 PM and I guess we'll make it to the 6 PM session. Brother Geer has been having some health problems lately and hasn't taken the van, I believe.

We have ordered some samples of some freeze dried food to see how it tastes. With the economy the way it is, and all the advertising about buying gold, I don't know how long our currency is going to be good. I want to invest it in something that will last and be for our benefit.

Fiddler's Convention

I met Bubba and Ruth at 2:00 PM and we went in their car and found a place to park for $5.00. We, Ruth and I, walked around and looked at the booths and she found a lady who could set her piece of amber in a necklace setting. We both bought a pair of earrings for $7.00. At 4:00 PM, a group of bluegrass musicians played and we sat and listened. I guess I've gotten too old for country music, for I didn't really enjoy it. I could have gone to dinner with Bubba and Ruth but Frank hasn't been feeling well and I came on home and fixed us supper and we watched Cop's and then read from the Book of Mormon. I'm really enjoying this reading time we have together. We usually get the birds out a while before we read and that is enjoyable too.

Tomorrow is General Conference. At first, I thought I would miss some of Conference by going to the Fiddler's Convention, but Conference doesn't start until Saturday morning. I'm going to take notes this time and see if I can remember more of the messages.

Didn't Wear Make-up

Since I wasn't going out today I just powdered my nose and put on my eyebrows. Don't remember what I did but make cards. Trudy's sending a pattern over sometime that I can put together and then use the pattern and make my own cards.

Dad had fevers last night so he didn't feel too good today. He thinks it might be the new medicine he is taking for his high blood pressure. He needs the blood pressure medicine but if he can't take it, I don't know.

Tomorrow's the Fiddler's Convention. It's supposed to rain tomorrow but the clouds are to break in the afternoon and then rain again after midnight. Maybe we can get some fiddle time in there somewhere!
