Another Day

Pauline and I had our last V.T. appointment today but there was some mix up because she wasn't there. Mary Lou just lives past Clements School so I didn't have far to go but Pauline was driving and she had to come from town. When we get a newer car, then I can do the driving out in the county. I had to go into town to mail a package but then came home. I wasn't feeling up to par so I took a nap in the afternoon. I counted my cards and I have made over 100, not counting the ones I've given away. I contacted a lady that does Stamping Up and she and about five others meet at the Blackburn center Feb 9 and make cards. It costs $10.00 and you make 4 cards and decorate the envelopes. It sounds like fun, but Trudy warned me they might smoke. The lady is bringing me a new catalog tomorrow and I can ask her then. I hope they don't. It sounds like fun. We're still finding carpenter ants in the house, even though we're having the outside treated. We might have to go to bait stations in the house if it won't bother the birds. It has been raining and cold today. It must be discouraging for our new neighbors who are trying to finish their new house so they can move in. I hope Trudy is feeling better. The stress she's been in had gotten the best of her, I think. Recently, I read that most of our illnesses, mental and physical, are due to stress. I got your card magazine, Mary Kate and thank you.

Still not understanding

I was up early again this morning but I couldn't get to the blog to write. I don't know what was different this time, but I'm on. Looks like John McCain is going to the the front runner for the Republican Party. Hillary or McCain, what a choice. I mourn for my country. On a lighter note--got an e-mail from Frankie saying he might get a summer job in Oak Ridge, TN teaching voice and trumpet at a community college. He will really enjoy that. Then Rachel could stay home with the kids. Made one card this morning. Yesterday I got a Stampin'Up book from Mary Kate. I had bought a magazine from Hobby Lobby so I'll have plenty of resources to consult. I bought two or three stamps. That's a hard habit to break! I need to exercise today but I don't want to. It's predsnone day for Dad and it's cold outside. I need to go to the pool and exercise my knees. Feb. 11 I see Dr. Moore about my right crocked knee. I would just like to see what might be in he future for me and the knee. Strengthen it or replace it no doubt. We had storms last night. The wind was really blowing. I expected a tree down or something. It was a very painful arthritis night. Must be getting the Granny disease.

Slow day

Had a good day at church. Sat. made cookies out of a cake mix--add 1/2 c. oil and 2 eggs to the box of cake mix-no water-mix it up and drop like cookies. I used a Devil's Food mix and got lovely dark brown cookies. Taste? I can't really tell. They did taste sweet and chocolaty. They were easy enough for me to make again. Got to go to H'ville Monday for a 10:20 AM lab apt. My white cells were low two weeks ago and they want to try again and see how things are. Like getting your oil changed, I think. Then I have to take some Crocks back to Dicks Sporting Goods store. Dad thought they might be the answer to some soft shoes for his feet. They were too wide for him. Larry Brown and Pres. Mitchell, from the Stake, came to visit Dad today to update his temple recommend. I changed the color of the letters on the blog, but I don't know if it will stay or not. I tried before and it didn't stick. Trudy, come on down and teach me how to do all this neat stuff. I'll make a few cards tonight. I gave some to my friend, Lou Coventon, the leader of the cancer group, and she really loved them! I like to see the look on people's faces when they see them. It makes me happy.

Organized

After two hours, using an organizing system my husband made up, I got all my stamps organized and each in it's place. I used my acrylic alphabet letters again and felt better about them. I've been a bit overwhelmed with all of the different papers I have now. I've used brads a couple of times and love them. My beloved acrylic nails don't help me use the brads any, but I have managed to use them. I look forward to learning and growing with this hobby. I tried to change the way my blog looks, but had no success. I look forward to learning how to use the computer better too.

Always a day behind!

I'm up a bit early today. Yesterday I went to shop at Wal-Mart at 11:00 AM. Frank was sick and my friend Karen was coming over at 1:ooPM to make cards, so I had a rushed feeling. I got all the things on my grocery list, plus my anniversary ring came in! It's tiny and petite but it sparkles and I like that. I planned to make cards in my all purpose room-my bedroom, my computer room, my dressing room and my sewing and card making room. I put up a full sized card table and with two people sitting at it and all the paper and other materials on it, it was too much. We did manage to make two cards apiece but next week we will move to the kitchen table. We made Valentine cards. I hadn't thought to make seasonal cards but carding with Karen I guess I will. She did well for the first time making cards. Her daughters have a card club where they make cards to share with each other. I tried out my acrylic stamps and didn't much like them. Some new I guess. I'll give them another try. Maybe I'll love them, who knows (the Shadow Knows ) You've got to be really old to know who "the Shadow" is. Hint: it was a radio program in the 1950's! Today I have to organize my 150 odd rubber stamps. I'm not too good at organizing things but I'll give it a try.

The fun we had yesterday.

Yesterday, our 40th wedding anniversary, Trudy and Sadie came over. Grampie got Sadie to help him chase dust bunnies with the vacuum cleaner and Trudy made a scrapbook of all of my stamps. I have about 150 stamps, not counting the two pages of new clear stamps I bought. I don't know what I'll do with all of these stamps, but I'm sure it will be fun trying to find out. After all of the dust bunnies were corralled, We went to H'ville to pick up the Accord ( an 18 yr. old car that was trying to tell us it was ready to die) and then we went to Hobby Lobby for their 40% off sale. That place gives me mental indigestion! So many pretty things and so no room in my house. But I did get some clear alphabet stamps and a pair of scissors. It was a lot of fun. Trudy also gave me lots of great scrap paper from her scrap booking stash. I can't wait to make cards with all of this "new" paper!

All by myself

Trudy's making sure I know how to do another post before we go to Hobby Lobby.
so far, so good!

Screaming and Kicking

I came screaming and kicking to this spot not knowing what to do. I am too old for such foolishness, but my oldest daughter insisted I do this. Who would want to read about me? You? Why? Maybe I'll understand someday, but right now I've got to take my pet dinosaur for a walk.
